New equality rights in workplace come into force
« on: October 01, 2010, 07:20:15 AM »
Quote from: BBC Web Shite
New rules aimed at banning discrimination by employers, covering areas such as age, disability and pay, have come into force.

The Equality Act covers many workplace areas and draws nine separate pieces of legislation into a single Act.

Equalities Minister Theresa May says it will now be easier for firms to comply with anti-discrimination rules.

What a complete nightmare train crash this is for employers!  Banghead

The only people that are going to gain from this are lawyers... how on earth did this get through parliament...? Shrugs:

Be careful what any of you say at work today... no jokes, just in case somebody overhears you...

I particularly like the bit that says that a potential employer is not allowed to ask any questions pertaining to an applicants health ~ even if their condition makes it impossible for them to carry out the work.

"So you want to be a policeman do you? ~ Well I'm not sure that the white stick will go with the uniform but we mustn't let that get in the way of your suitability for the task"

Fvcking nonsense!  cussing:
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

They will have to "disregard" your answers. Fecking ridiculous!

"So you would like a trial with Arsenal would you? Well I'm sure you won't be the only one legged footballer in the Premiership" .......... "Oh, you are going to see your lawyer because I mentioned the obvious difficulty of getting your wheelchair onto the team coach..... please forget I ever mentioned it"

Peter Cook and Dudly Moore did a sketch once where a one legged man applied for a job as Tarzan, anyone remember it.
