As you know, I like hot things. I mentioned on another thread that after a few bevvies I indulged in a spoonful of "Mad Dog 357" Special Reserve. It is a food additive - not sauce - as it is too hot to be classed as a sauce. It's 600,000 Scovilles which is pretty high.
Anyhoo...when I awoke yesterday, I felt like my hands were on fire - clenching my fist produced a sensation akin to very bad sunburn. And I still have it today. And now it's spread to my armpits.
Odd. It should be noted that my brother's neighbour tried a spoonful and half an hour later was in an ambulance. Anyone else had such an extreme reaction to "hot stuff"?

Is your hair on fire?

I've had loads of Ghost chiles, apc - they're no big deal. A spoonful of a super-hot sauce/additive is far, far worse.

For what it's worth my eyelids begin to perspire at anything beyond a chicken tikka masala, but listening to a food science programme some time ago the explanation given for people being able to withstand extremely hot food was that they didn't possess the range of taste buds to detect it.
That could be troublesome if you ate something that you reckoned you could handle but your body systems thought otherwise rubschin:

Are you suggesting that TMR is deficient in the tongue department? rubschin:

Now, I did try to word it very carefully ::) . Perhaps TMR and his hot chilli clan have a different range of sensors rubschin:
