Actually Tony Blair is well over 45 so that statement isn't strictly true.

I was discussing this honesty business with my daughter a couple of days ago. We both agreed that if we found money in the street we would keep it but if the money was in a wallet or purse then we would hand it or return it.

I thought the Essex test was flawed. When I was 7 I recall finding a cig lighter in the street. The old metal sort. My dad and I took it to the cop shop and a month later a constable returned it to me at our house as unclaimed. As a student in London I found £50 in the street. My annual grant income was £650. I took it to the cop shop. No one claimed it, and when I went to pick it up I found a collecting box for the Police Benevolent Fund in front of me. I ignored it.

Subsequently my experiences with the plod became less than happy: questioned when hitchhiking, having my bags searched (on one occasion one containing all my girlfriend's dirty laundry which I was politely taking to a launderette), stopped for having long hair etc etc.

I cannot drop litter (early training) so my pockets and car are constantly full of shite.I tend to confront ignorant sods who engage in littering.

Did you hear this?

"Dear Chris Huhne,

Thank you for your letter regarding my heating bills. So, how does that work then?
If i read it right you want me to invest in some insulation and pass the bill, when it arrives, to someone else. I'm not sure if that's entirely proper; I mean it would be a bit like going out for a meal and then passing the bill off as expenses, or perhaps if I got a speeding ticket and asked my partner to say she was driving.
Is that what you mean?"

Mr C and  I were talking about this on the way home today.  We are getting closer to a precipice every day.  Unless something radical is done starting at the top we will drop off the edge and when that happens I think we will spiral into civil war and in a way I really do hope that is what happens.  We are supposed to live in a democratic country and yet we have no voice. Banghead

Oh and littering is one of my pet hates too. cussing:
