Title: Tinnitus
Post by: Pastis on February 04, 2012, 06:54:41 PM
Has anyone been listening to the Book of the Week?  "The Train in the Night: A Story of Music and Loss" by Nick Coleman.

Scary saga if ever there was. It's made me think that I ought to get my tinnitus checked  out; it seems to be a variant called pulsatile tinnitus which pulses with the heartbeat, at present a mild but persistent whooshing in both ears  noooo:

I now hear clearly everything, a mixed blessing frankly  Shrugs:

Apparently irrigation - thank you Nurse - is a thing of the past.  Vacuuming is the way forward  eeek:   A friend now tells me he has his ears vacuumed every six months. All manner of detritus is whisked, or perhaps Dysoned away leaving the aural passages clear and free ...  rubschin:

Anyone had their ears sucked?

I used to have mine syringed every 6 months or so as they would become blocked and painful.  This would involve calling the surgery to make an appointment being told call back in three or four days after I had put drops of oil into each ear to soften the wax.  Doing as I was told then calling them back only to be told to call back in three or four days when they had an appointment free.

I got so hacked off with it all that several years ago I purchased a large plastic syringe and started doing it myself.

Not sure it would work with the hoover though. rubschin:

Was it on here that a discussion was held as to what we could do with our collective earwax and navel fluff?

I have two ears they don't both get blocked at the same time.

Now that we have cleared that up what do you suggest that we do with the accumulated VP ear wax?
