He is not pissing you about. I use it frequently. Some info is free (click on it and see) other stuff you have to pay for but you have no secrets from the internet, whether you use it or not .... Everything can be found.

Since I am registered as a user I could also gain access to your credit record if I so wished ~ which I don't ~ but I do use it for business purposes.

Yes, easily.

www.192.com (http://www.192.com)

Need at least the name or business name for that to work it seems.

IF you have the knowledge on how to do it presumably.

Yes you do need a name to start the enquiry and to pay a subscription to 192.com for the full service and registration with someone like "Experian" to use a credit reference company if you want a credit history. Registration costs £££s and you have to jump through a number of legal hoops to gain registration as well as satisfying them as to why you would be using their services.

BTW I can also CRB check people if I need to but again only for legitimate business purposes (i.e. if someone is paying me to find details for a legitimate reason)
Neither is something I would piss about with as I could forfeit my licence if I was caught so no I don't do "casual" enquiries.

Obviously you need a name and ideally an approximate location or date of birth to get started but it takes only a few minutes to gain all sorts of info if you are a registered user.

PS You don't need to be an IT Buff to find people but a knowledge of the systems helps.

I know. That's why I deliberately blanked out the reg number on Uncle Festa a few months ago.
However, 'someone' with superior I.T knowledge and know how could no doubt 'undo' that edit of mine.

IIRC I didn't edit out the number of my off roading beast a few years ago however. Banghead

Anyway, from a source I could not possibly reveal  whistle: , ir seems that a 'number witheld' 'phone call CAN in fact be traced!

Indeed it can, otherwise how would BT bill them?

What's that got to do with it ?
Not talking about bills here, I'm talking about tracing numbers from witheld callers to Growler Towers. ::)

All I've got to do now is find out who could actually do this for me.
Is it my I.P who I pay for the line and calls (mostly non chargeable) or BT who actually own it? Shrugs:

Post by: Nick on September 11, 2012, 05:14:09 PM
If someone makes a call then they get a bill for that. Yes? If they hold their number BT or whoever still know who it is. Call BT and ask them who is calling. They will know and will intercept or report  Banghead Banghead

Well I don't know how they can trace a called number just by going through 40 + million accounts to see who has called who.

Try Googling your name, always good for a laugh.

There is tons of stuff out there that would really shock people if they were shown it. The internet is not anonymous, and you leave tracks everywhere and that's without any of the databax being accessed.

That's just the "normal" public face of the web.

If you are stupid/brave enough to venture into the "Dark Web", you would really really get a fright. I wouldn't advise anyone to go there, it's a dangerous place, but the info there is incredible.
