Like most normal people and just about all businesses I use the cheapest paper available that suits my printers (I have both lazer and inkjet).
Just typed a letter, printed two copies (one for recipient one for file) and then I signed it.
Now I know I am old fashioned but I always use a fountain pen. Bastard paper won't hold the ink!
Signature all smudged as the ink just runs off the paper.
I checked the pack ~ label clearly says suitable for all inks and toners cussing:
This never used to happen when my secretary typed letters and I just signed the bloody things.
Okay ~ I can easily print another copy and use a 10p Bic Biro but that is not the point ~ I like using a fountain pen!

Laser... ::)

Strangely mine does actually say Lazer Printer on the front of it. evil:

Then I blame the chinks who made the sodding thing but we are straying from the point here! cussing:

Paper I use in my printer and that many companies & schools use to ask me to sign a form not being able to cope with ink from a fountain pen. My signature ends up smudged as the ink won't dry ~ alternatively it goes straight through the fvcking paper and I find my signature has gone through the paper leaving a smudge on the other side and another copy of the signature beneath on the blotting paper.

Use a biro

A man on his third wife will surely have so many that he has had his man build a bookcase to keep them in, especially if said wives kept notes.

You probably won't like the idea Snoops but why not digitise your signature? razz:

Mainly because I am so old fashioned that I type the letters but handwrite the name at the beginning and sign my name at the end. It sort of comes over as more personal that way & people seem to like that personal touch. Once a salesman ~ always a salesman. ;)
No I think the answer was supplied, perhaps unintentionally perhaps not, by Marley. I shall invest in some better quality paper for the covering letters and take Nick's advice and use a Bic for all the rubbish forms I have to sign for various people/schools etc. It is, after all, just a habit to reach for my fountain pen when I want to hand write something and how hard can it be to place a single sheet of decent paper into the printer so that the letter is on quality paper and the file copy on cheap crap.
Typed as BM's solution was being posted.

A fine solution
Different paper for different tasks; I use a heavyish 160gr for invoices as it feels more substantial (matching my hourly rate or part thereof ;) ) and 80gr for general stuff. Gloss and silk finish photo paper for presentations come in handy ...

"Dear Ms Izal Medicated..."
I do of course appreciated Snoopy's frustration, although Tesco Value printer paper seems OK in that respect.
You could always sign in lemon juice then get Growler to warm the paper with his lighter.

Hey! We've come some way from the starting point here and BM's comment could be the start of a whole new argument/thread.

The starting point was the fact that you couldn't write your signature properly .
