It's been a year now since I had these Varifocals, clever things that they are, but one thing I've noticed is that in dim lighting they help not one jot. I've been blaming it on the specs ... cry: redface:
It seems that it's the beginnings of cataracts. Apparently you can get them fixed ... but when? Catch them early or leave it 'til everything's a blur? rubschin:

Oh fuck noooo:
But I am not a doc. Nor is anyone here. I guess, sooner the betterer. Private consultation if necessary

Indeed, my first thoughts were Oh Phuck!
Currently doing online research to find out as much as possible cry:

Deffo fixable ~ 'specially if caught early.
This getting old stuff is a bugger innit?

Mrs DS #3 had them done. Not a pleasant procedure but an amazing improvement.
The consultant seemed to think it was not time-critical, just whenever it got too bad.
-
Thanks gents, I was hoping you both might shed some light on the issue (intended ;) )
Yep, it's a bugger when the bits start failing to perform as per the original specification. 'Spose I should stop looking at things but in my line of work that's a bit of a sine qua non.
Oh, and they say dark glasses might help 8)

If you go private you can expect to hand over between £3600 - £6000 to have both eyes fixed Shocked:

Replacing lenses (i.e. cataract op.) might of course mean no need for specs at all eeek: rubschin:

Shouldn't have gone to Specsavers?

Yes, laser surgery without the laser.
It also seemed to give Mrs DS #3 a renewed evil twinkle in her eyes when starting an argument, and a better set of tears when she lost. whistle:

Right. To summarise a long winded explanation of referrals etc from the Doc, nothing to be done for a few years yet ... hopefully angel1

However, Nick better be careful, cataracts will be brought on by any trauma to the eye. whistle:
