I can't remember how we got talking about it but someone on Friday suggested that Ray Winstone was a good actor.
Now I have seen a few of his films but to me he always plays the same role in some guise or the other ...even in The Sweeney when he was supposed to be the good guy for once he wasn't.
These roles also don't seem too departed from his own persona when he does interviews etc.
So to me he gets paid for being himself ....not a great stretch of acting talent required rubschin:
-
See also Sean Connery
-
Alec Guinness simply vanished into whatever character he was playing.
-
See also John Thaw.
-
Michael Sheen cloud9:
-
I spose you keep the whole Sheen family in business
-
Not a film actor, but David Jason has played a number of characters in differing programmes over the years, and you never think, oh it's Delboy, Jack Frost, Pop Larkin etc
-
Exactly he is not typecast into one role only.
Hugh Grant = slightly goofy English gentleman ALWAYS ::)
-
Suarez
Luis Suarez DIVE Liverpool v Stoke SHOCKING (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvLykEcCNqs#ws)

I always thought he would have been a great character actor if he had gone into "talkies"

I thought he was on about the invisible man rubschin:
Speaking of which, David McCallum has to be the most wooden actor I have ever seen (I'm sure there are many others that never reached his dizzy heights though)
-
rubschin: And not one single actress yet .... That tells us something.
Perhaps there are very few actresses who actually do more than provide the "Love Interest". Eye candy a-plenty but other than Maggie Smith I am hard put to think of any actress who didn't build a career out of looks but simply "acted" herself throughout her time on TV or in movies and then faded from view as she aged.
-
Well Meryl Streep does a pretty good job
As does Susan Sarandon !
Jennifer Anniston on the other hand - you could almost predict her lines in her films noooo:
-
Joanna Lumley's acting has improved with age.
As for Ms Streep ~ I can never understand a word she says ..... "mumble, mumble, mumble" ... Which I suppose saves her having to learn her lines.
-
I feel the same about Nicholas Cage ...have I stressed lately how much I detect the actor who has obviously been indulged despite having a stroke at birth noooo:
