Got an owld JVC. had it for about 7 years now, and it's been a grand old thing. cloud9:
The speakers have started playing up now thouggh, and now having to resort to the common and well know temporary repair, commonly known as 'twatting it' to spark the sound back into life. Banghead
Is this proper fixable do you think, or should I reluctantly bin it for one of these nasty modern thin digi things, seeing as you seemingly can't get a PROPER telly anymore? cussing:
Picture is still real good too. Be such a shame to see it go for such a trivial fault. sad32:

Take it apart and waggle all the little plugs and sockets to clean them.
Works 9 out of 10 times for me.

Does me 'ed in the way modern things just don't last anymore.
Do they deliberately build in a timer for things to become goosed? cussing:

Moral of the story ....nothing lasts forever sad24:

Does it vary according to the type of program you watch?
60,000 hours of Strictly Come Dancing vs 100,000 hours of Blue Planet?

Correct. confused:
What's a PDA?
Phukin' Dangerous Animal? Shrugs:
-
Explanation on this PDA that you speak of would be gratefully received, preferably BEFORE I stick me paws into the back of this wretched machine.
Getting loads of grief from G Jnr, as he's getting sick of having to use my prefered fix, more commonly known as 'Twatting It'.
-
Don't put your paws inside a TV unless you know what you're doing.
My brother who knows this things (He worked for Marconi/BAE for 40 years and his hobby is restoring WWII radios and transmitters) told me never poke around inside a TV as there are some lethal voltages lurking in the CRT and capacitors.
I know not of a PDA though.

It is the Post Deflection Anode.... it looks like an HT lead coming out of the side of the tube... because it is an HT lead coming out of the side of the tube...
It can have 10,000V on it long after the telly is switched off like.... scared2:

How many amps though?

How many amps though?
Can't be many, or the streetlights would go out when Growlers TV comes on.
If I remember rightly, TV's consume aboout 100 Watts, so if all that went into the 10000 Volts (i.e. none into the speakers whistle:) it would be 100/10000=0.01 Amps.
Doesn't sound like death row to me.
