Been to GP this morning, carrying a bottle of pee. The anti-biotics have not cleared the infection so he has given a prescription for a second course. sick2:
If the anti-biotics fail this time he will be referring me back to urolody at hosp. You will recall these are the people who have operated on my bladder 4 times in the past 12 months and managed to give me an infection on each occasion. cussing:
Also spoke to him about my left shoulder which has been hurting for 10 weeks. I had previously seen the practice nurse about it. evil:
He reckons that I have torn muscles, ligaments or summat whilst doing things that Woodstock would normally have done were it not for her broken wing. stuff like taking dog out, turning mattresses, carrying shopping etc. GP says it could turn into a "frozen shoulder" so I have to keep it moving. Keep taking co-codamol for the pain and he will refer me to orthopedic consultant. It could take weeks, he reckons, to get an appointment. Meanwhile I am having to help Woodstock to get dressed and then she helps me.
Ridiculous performance every morning in our bedroom. cussing:

Bones have knitted back together and the plate that has replaced her shoulder joint has not moved out of place. Screws in upper arm seem to have not moved either .... That's the good news.
On the down side she has fortnightly physio and the man there reckons it will take at least 12 months before she regains mobility in her upper arm and even then it will only be partial mobilty. Muscle was torn from the bone, ligaments also torn and have been rejoined but both have now to be stretched into "normal" length. In order to operate on the shoulder they had to sever the nerve that runs down the arm and then rejoin it .... she has no feeling in her arm because of this. She cannot raise her arm to touch the top of her head nor can she move her arm behind her to do up her bra. Pulling a jumper on and off is agony for both of us. Her with her right arm/shoulder and me on the left shoulder and upper arm...... I had to ask the Dr to help me get my shirt back on this morning. redface:
Driving is painful for both of us. I struggle to get the seat belt into its slot, cannot reach with left hand to switch heater, radio etc on/off and the indicator toggle is on the left of the steering wheel and it hurts to stretch a finger to flick it up or down. Woodstock's car is the other was round with indicators on the right of the steering wheel so she, having bust her right shoulder, has similar problems. We swap cars a lot just to make it easier.
-
I have a frozen shoulder as well ~ nothing like as bad as yours though.
-
Keep taking co-codamol
[serious]I can't take that at all. Gives me nightmares and hallucinations as well as major slow down of the 'digestive transit'. noooo: [/serious]

Co-codamol makes me feel sick for about an hour after taking it and it constipates me ..... GP answer is "Take it with meals and here is a prescription for some stool softening medicine"
As for the ridiculous performance in the bedroom ...... When Woodstock first asked for help to get undressed I thought eyes: eyes: BUT no such luck ~ neither of us are able to eyes: at the moment. sad32:

Four of us with goosed shoulders now then.
Did I hear a five from the floor anyone? whistle:
Tell you, to the general onlooker and listener, it doesn't sound that bad a problem, but trying to turn over and lean on one side in yu nest is ssssssssssssso painful. sad32:
That then leads to kip deprivation. Banghead
I've gorra stache of Iboprufen tabs here to take btw, along with some anti indigestion ones that I'm supposed to take at the same time apparently.
Rarely bother with either tbh as i generally speaking don't do prescription drugs. sick2:
-
I'll make it five. cry:
Had frozen shoulder on and off for around five years. I thought I had a list of exercises on this PC that are a great help in assisting mobility but they must be on the works PC. Shout if any of you would like them (elastic resistance band required for some of them)

Back from the Orthopedic Consultant's Clinic: X-rayed and "manipulation" of shoulder joint.
Shoulder is well fvcked.
i) Some deterioration of bone/joint due probably to age
ii) Torn muscle which is repairing itself but will take time
iii) Torn ligaments that may need surgery ...... Scan next week to see the full extent of the damage
iv) He also spotted the fact that my left hand is clearly darker than the right hand which he says is probably nerve damage and so further tests on nerves are needed to confirm this.
v) Also, for purposes of elimination, he will be arranging tests on the vascular system of the shoulder and arm to ensure it isn't a restricted blood flow problem (which he doubts)
vi) Threats of cortisone injections over a period of weeks to ease the pain but not until he is certain what the problem is.
Meanwhile I have to keep the arm moving to avoid it seizing up but I must avoid straining it by going beyond the first sign of pain.
Oh Happy Days! ::)
