I think we'll do 3,2,1 points for the top three, and as suggested, DOUBLE points for a finisher in the top three that started outside the top 10, yes?

I agree Mark was robbed and Nico should have come third... I really felt for Di Resta and Sutil what the hell happened at Force India.. Heads should roll ....

I think the reason I love motorsport and motors in general is I was brought up my day always had bits of engines all over the kitchen mum used to go mad. I was always in his garage tinkering around he used to teach me things (I think he wanted boys but he got me and my sister and she had no interest). I love the smell of oil it reminds me of him.. I work in transport too by accident but I love it..

Yes seems he's less than as apologetic as it once seemd

BBC link (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/22106490)

Quote
Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel says he would "probably" ignore team orders again if he was instructed not to challenge team-mate Mark Webber.
Vettel was asked if he would repeat his actions from the Malaysian Grand Prix.
He said: "I'm not sure I can give a proper answer because in the moment it might be different but I would probably do the same."

But IIRC didn't Webber disobey orders not to overtake Vettel in the British GP a couple of years back?

Here we are again then ey?

Is it really 3 weeks since the last race?

This is Rosbergs favourite track, and the only race that Merc has won since taking over Brawn is HERE.
So, it's no suprise to see he was first in practice yeterday, and a poorly Hammy was 2nd.

Good ole Desperate Dan look a like, Webber was 3rd, with his nasty Kraut team mate 4th.

Ferrari were up next, Button not far behind, and the one O really want to see starting to shine, Di Resta, just inside the top ten.

I think Merc are looking strong for this weekend, but will Hamilton be able to stay on the pace for the duration if he's not well?
Qualifying should prove to be very interesting. rubschin:

Race live on BBC1 Sunday morning. cloud9:

When's cutoff time for making our Coconut selections?

And have you made a rule yet stopping selecting the same driver for 1st, 2nd and 3rd?

Massa fastest in P2  ;D

Don't really think that's in the spirit of fair compettion that, but hey ho, it's only a bir'of fun like I suppose, so if you really want to put Vettel down for all of the top three places, then do it. whistle:

Cut off time for selections is 1 second before the parade/warm up lap.

Hammy's poorly don't forget, and what happens if one of them have an accident in qualifying, or summat that demotes one of them to the back of the grid? Shrugs:

You don't gain any advantage by doing your placings so early, but hey ho, it's up to you.

Is that your final decision then? confused:

Mansell was a strange one.  Gutsy and fast but never gave others credit and he could whine like a jet engine when he opened his mouth.

To quote Frank Williams;  "We'll miss him as a driver but not as a bloke"

IMHO a good summary of his career is on the Beeb website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/18492552)   Can't believe they rated him better than Hakkinen and Brabham though.

Nah

Some of the races these last years have been just stunning.  Montreal 2011 being one of the bestest ever.

Senna was very very fast but I reckon Alonso, Shuey, Vettel and probably Hamilton would have had his measure.

Since Senna the thing has lost some sparkle.........

Senna in his day was brilliant and was a tragic loss... sad24:

If I am being honest I think for a few years in the Shumi years it did lose the way a bit it was so predictable.  I found I was only interested in the mid section race as you new the result at the front.... tunble:

But since they chanced the rules a few seasons ago now it has revitalized the sport you still have the odd dull race but a lot of exciting ones. One the hole I think the cars are more evenly matched and more reliable....

Nope seems the result stands

Quote
The stewards investigated several drivers after the race for possible use of DRS under yellow flags - notably Vettel, Webber, Raikkonen, Bottas, Ricciardo and Chilton - but decided not to issue any penalties.

I do not know much about F1 but always watch it. I was amazed to see both Growler and Boogs say this was the best race of the year. eeek:

I must be missing the point or something as I have always found this particular race boring. Most of the drivers/owners have a trip around their adopted town to show off their wealth and the only overtaking is done in the pit.  noooo:

Please inform of where I am getting it wrong. Shrugs:

I'm voting with my feet tomorrow and going to Brands Hatch to see the historic F1 cars racing in the flesh.  If there's one GP to miss live and watch later on video it's this one

The thing with Monaco is they are on the streets so there is no room for error... The driver skill shows through one mistake and they are fucked  sometimes it can seem as tho it is a prosession but other times it is really exciting... It is the tradition as well...

It was after the race and the TV producer got distracted from the official proceedings to focus in on their ample assets in skimpy bikinis.  Web says it was 1999!   Can't find video  cry:.

Back to matters race wise this is all going to come down to whether the Mercs can make their tyres work with only one stop.  I'll be optimistic

1. Hamilton
2. Vettel
3. Webber

I would like for the Mercs to win they have been good in quallies but not good in the race.. Personally I think this year is all about tyres ... Not sure I fully agree with what they have done in that respect jury is still out...

Yep. In the 60s and 70s I lived just 5 miles from Brand Hatch and they used to get the GPs then so saw some terrific stuff.    You'd think these guys with some seriously historic machinery would take it all ever so careful but some of them really go for it.  And the noise is terrific.

Haven't seen a real GP though for years, got to fix that.

Canada tomorrow evening.

Now this IS going to be a very tricky one to predict, as the weather could well play a big part in it.

Feel free to leave your predictions until just before the start if you wish, so you can judge slightly better when you see what it decides it's going to do...not that that will help really.

I really don't know on this one.
May have to take the plunge early, as I may well be going out for a long yomp in the 'ills tomozo and might not be back in time for the start.

Track Marshals give up a lot of time and take huge risks to make sure we are entertained and this guy was just 38.  A lot of future life now lost

Years ago I saw a Canadian Marshall killed live on TV when he walked in front of a car (Indycar) - has always stuck with me those images, just shocking.

Shame but the right call imho, seems he had options to stay with Vettel but thought better.

Not a surprise but sad just the same.  I like Mark he comes across as a nice guy always seems to be honest and has been treated second best in the team for some time now.  The kraut needs some stiff competition Mark IMO has been too nice with him... Kimi would be good sort him out wouldn't take any shit..

I read today that the FIA are now considering crash helmets for EVERYONE in the pit lane.
Unbelievable nonsense.
The wheel hit this poor guy in the back, so i don't see how a helmet would have saved his ribs and shoulder.

Just make sure the lights stay on red until the car is safe to depart is the answer.

Yes it's better to not get hit than be protected against being hit

This is the same FIA that only fined Red Bull €30k  (http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2013/7/14783.html)for the incident.  Like that will make them change their processes.

Of course the FIA could reduce the number of high risk tyre changes by letting Pirelli supply a tyre that lasts.  I want to see overtaking on the track not in the pit lane.

Dunno

Still think they ought to do more to limit the risks of loose wheels but until they do having someone in the pit lane not easily able to see a hazard does seem a risk too far.

I've never thought that the risk to media or marshalls or other non competitors was part of the spectacle.  I'm very happy to just enjoy the risk to machinery and track position

It used to be grim.  F1 drivers decapitated on barbed wire fences intended to stop the public getting onto the track, spectators killed when they got through those fences.

I'd like a death free sport where it's reasonably possible and I really don't need those pit lane shots that much.

IMHO yes there were a lot more incidents but that for some of them what they got a kick out of... beating the odds... being the best.  Sportsmanship that is what it was ....Not like now too much munny in it as in a lot of sport...

I do love it but don't like the politics or greed...  noooo:

Suggest if Boogs can't post otherwise (due to family issue) , her previous Germany prediction stands for Ungry as well

He is so in need of being brought under Kimi's wing and shown how to really enjoy a night out doing things his mum would die of shame if she heard of them

Still like him though.  In my book:

Good guys:  Button, Webber, Lewis, di Resta, Rosberg, Massa

Likeable Rogues:  Kimi, Grosjean, Alonso

Fast but sods:  Vettel, Perez, Maldonado

Two tyre failure issues again yesterday. Drivers are not happy, but the weather may well help to eliminate any possible issues for this weekend.

They seriously need to bin Pirelli and get Michelin or Bridgestone on the case..... like today,  before someone gets seriously hurt or worse.

More drivers drop out of last two races

Following news that Kimi Raikkonen is to miss the last two races of the Formula 1 season due to ‘back problems’, several other drivers have revealed that they too will be sitting out the remainder of the year.

First to drop out were Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso, who gave the excuse that his back was ‘still a bit hurty’, and Felipe Massa, who claimed that after signing for Williams he had accidentally ‘thrown away’ all his Ferrari overalls.

Not to be outdone, Lewis Hamilton announced he was missing the last two races on account of having ‘no one to look after the dog’ whilst team mate Nico Rosberg said he mistakenly thought Abu Dhabi was the last race of the year and had ‘booked a two week non-refundable holiday at Center Parcs’.

Other absentees will include Pastor Maldonado, who claimed his seat had got jammed too far toward after the team adjusted it ‘to let Massa have a go’ and Sergio Perez who will be unable to drive on account of ‘crying too much’.

Meanwhile, over at Red Bull Mark Webber will not complete the season because he ‘just can’t be fucking arsed’.

In total, 20 of the current 22 drivers have elected not to compete in the final two races. As a result, the only entries in this weekend’s US GP will be Sebastian Vettel, who will win as usual, and Marussia’s Max Chilton, who will somehow finish 19th.

Isn't the Sports Bar a BM free zone?  If he did have owt to do with the coconut it'd prolly sit next to those CDB cakes he never coughs up on

meantime

Someone has just sadly emailed me that there are only 111 days and 6 hours til the next GP.  Who's going to run the next compo?
