One of our members was bitten by a snake this morning whilst working in the middle of the village. We are hoping it is a medium to low risk attack. Please take care when moving items in sheds, pump rooms, garages etc. as this one leapt out and attacked without any warning.

If memory serves, some species of snake can launch themselves off the ground but it isn't a common trait. There are a couple of types of South American Viper, a cobra I think and of course the famous flying snake.
Just going from indigenous species you should be fine as long as it isn't a blunt nosed viper. You may want to keep an eye out for Black and Brown Widows as well though.
