Title: Utterly ridiculous

"The Rolling Stones flouted England's new smoking ban when two band members lit up on stage at London's O2 arena.
But the venue will not be fined after Greenwich Council said it was "satisfied" the incident was a one-off.

Guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood both smoked cigarettes during the first of the band's three gigs at the former Millennium Dome."

So what! I very much doubt any of the audience cared and probably applauded it!  Of course, it would have been legal if they had started injecting heroin or snorting coke.

Madness, utter maddness.

I really couldn't give a toss but either it is a law or they are guidelines.

Rock and roll bands must smoke. It's the law!

But this was a prime opportunity to prove that the big wigs are fussed about it.

Que?

I am sick of this no smoking law being flauted. I really couldn't give a toss either way but either it is a law or it isn't. If Greenwich Council aren't going to be forced to comply then why should anyone?

Marlborough to me sounds like a classy porn mag, a bit like Mayfair, and of course us lads only get them to read the motoring articles  whistle:

The point really is that in an arena that big, two icons sparking up on a distant stage will have absolutely no detrimental effect whatsoever on anyone - even if secondary smoke is bad for you, which still has to be proven, especially with the air conditioning in full flow. All the attendees would have suffered far worse lung pollution on the journey there. I vote we ban all buses and tube trains as a precaution.

That is not the point though. There is a ban on smoking in areas such as that. The law covers the O2 arena and so it should be enforced.

Well, exactly. But this in the public arena now. There are photos. Why aren't Greewich Council being prosecuted and fined?

It should be the council taking action against O2 (arena owners)

Doubtless there were pyrotechnics at this gig too - should they be banned?

I'm all for the law being enforced in smaller venues such as pubs, restaurants and cafes etc. but this just taking the piss.

Ok that then.

And should the Barman be prosecuted for selling pints os shandy? - I believe that it is still illegal in this country.

I personally don't think the law should exist however, seeing as it does I would like to see it upheld otherwise it is just making a mockery of the whole thing. If you can't be arsed to enforce then don't f-ing bother.

I agree with Wenchy (again).  scared2:

It is a stupid law and this just goes to prove how stupid it is?  point:

They could do with fewer laws that they can actually enforce. Wankers.  cussing:

When the EU let us keep pints, they did not include shandy with the likes of beer, lager cider etc. in the list of allowed drinks - oops

Agreed Wenchy - however Councils have been instructed to take a softly softly approach with this and act in an 'advisory' rather than enforcing capacity at the moment. Don't want to upset too many highly taxed individuals at one time do we  noooo:
