[overnickshead] I have a QNAS NAS (http://www.amazon.co.uk/QNAP-TS-212-E-personal-social-sharing/dp/B00GWD0H5M/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1412168990&sr=8-4&keywords=qnap) that holds all my data, music files, pictures, etc. backs it all up automatically, does virus checks and is also a multimedia server that streams music and video around the house and into the minema.
This morning it informed me that a firmware update was available.
I updated the firmware, it re-booted and now it doesn't recognise my password! cussing:

Wasn't it Windows NT that used to take carefully thought out passwords and truncate them back to 6 bytes by just ExOring any further characters

I don't remember that.... noooo:
I do remember that it came on an enourmous pile of 3½" 'disks when it came out...
...I remember it well because (unbeknown to me) the HP File Server I was trying to install it on had a hardware fault and the installation fell over after about disk 12.... again, and again and again.... Banghead
That is a lot of disks and a lot of entering domain names, admin passwords, time zones, etc. cussing:
