Investigations have got to the bottom [snigger] of Nod's problem. He is having nightmares about having sharp things pushed up his arse to cut the little critters off. eveilgrin:
I am vacillating between reassurance and winding up rubschin:

It's a tough call this.
Have you told him they've probably already tattooed him in some X marks the spot system?

I drop round for a coffee
Me: Good news about the polyps
Nod: Yes! Here is the letter
I read the relevant section
"Initial investigation reveals a lesion which requires further urgent investigation, and a couple of polyps. Call (phone number) asap to arrange for a biopsy."
Me: Um, this is not about polyps. They need you in asap for what looks like a biopsy of this lesion.
Nod: Lesion? What is a lesion. I must have overlooked that bit. noooo:
Me: It could be cancer. You have to call them in the morning!!
As I leave, Nod says. "I think I might make a will this afternoon."

I guess we see what we want to see. Ironically, this letter comes in the same week as Nod inherited £250K from his mum's estate....
Maybe he needs some help with that will... rubschin:

Poor Nod ...definitely a common theme this year noooo:
One of the man's mate was saying he was having similar issues in that area for some time - but had been ignoring it and the regular screening offers. He is in his 60's.
He has a younger wife (45) who decided she would order some tests of Internet (as he had chucked others away ) and they would both do a test to encourage him to at least make the preliminary check.
Anyways he is fine but hers came up with concerns. She went to get it checked out and low and behold she has colon cancer ( no symptons) and was being operated on last week noooo:

It is the lesion that is cancerous.

Picking Nod up early tomorrow for his Consultant appointment scared2:
Thought I would take him out today to help him get things in perspective angel1
Breedon on the Hill: Anglo Saxon abbey on a site occupied by the Romans on the site of a Bronze Age hill fort with evidence of earlier Neolithic occupation. I suggested this long continuity of human habitation reminded us of our insignificance in the span of time (especially him angel1).
Massive vistas across three counties. The scale reinforces our insignificance angel1
Took him inside and showed him the famous alabaster skeleton

I think it is more targetted now. My mate George had radio a couple of years ago and reported losing his body hair rubschin: He didn't need it anyway. I doubt Nod needs hair. He can wear a jumper
-
Losing hair is usually more associated with chemo and it can grow back. Both women I know that had chemo recently wore wigs but it grew back.
AFAIK Radio Therapy is used for very localised treatment direct to the tumour or the site where it was removed from.

Anything to confuse and mystify you further with levels, gradings , letters, roman numerals etc lol:
As I understand it the a / b / c ratings are to do with the aggressiveness of the cancer cells - so it would seem that with Nod the bastard cancer cells are in the lymph or nearby tissue of his tumour.
How is Nod doing with the treatment ???
The Man is also stage 3 - but during his op they also took out 48 Lymph Nodes in that area eeek: and a small bite of his bladder . eeek: - the aim obviously to prevent further transmission .
4 months of chemo is due to end at the end of September . We are also likely to have scans this month to give us an indication of how successful this has all been - but signs are that it has been fairly successful.
The poor fella then just has to wait to go back in for another operation to have the stoma reversal which was done at the time of his operation in April to give the resection of the bowel adequate time to heal and the superglue to work lol:

Have warned the other members of the rota. He is deffo losing weight as his trousers kept falling down

If he wants some amusement in his hour of need we went to the football at Wembley on Tuesday
The Man had to empty his stoma bag ..he has his disabled key for use of the toilets for this very purpose.
However whilst he was in there he just heard an almighty kicking at the door. He was half way through a process he obviously couldn't stop.
So anyways when he opens the door there is a bloke in a wheelchair and 2 mates pushing him . The bloke was spouting abuse saying that The Man had been in there smoking ."thats all anyone does in those loos depriving the disabled of their facilities !!! " Etc
Then he just started hitting The Man with his walking stick .
The Man as you can imagine was fuming . He snatched the stick and went to throw it back at him but it was one of those fold up ones and just collapsed. Tommy Cooper eat your heart out 🤣
The bloke then gets out of his chair to face it off .
The Man declares that Lazarus has arisen and the wheelchair yob starts fuming again and goes towards him.
So The Man finally lifts his shirt up in the middle of the concourse and shouts at the bloke that he is an absolute idiot..." I have cancer and am full of shit inside and out"
Wheelchair yob sat back down and avoided any further contact.
They really did film the wrong footage on the TV 🤣

80% chance that treatment will work. If not, he has resigned himself to surgery and colostomy. Tests and scans sheduled for Jan 10th

Nod was meant to get a verdict from his consultant by phone on Thursday. She has delayed it by TWO WEEKS and wants it face to face.

That's the first thought that would come to mind. A terrible way to treat a patient.
I had a similar thing happen to me a while back; I was sent for a blood test then had a call from the surgery saying the doctor wants me to come in so she could discuss the results with me. Naturally I thought the worst. Got there, all fine. I might have vented my anger. redface:

Try having an endoscopy or TOE where they shove a camera down your throat. That requires sedation.

Many years ago I was hospitalised and the doctor stuck an NG tube up my nose and down into my stomach. Not pleasant noooo: Later the nurse came to feed me through it only to discover in had been put wrong way in. The nurse told the doctor who told her to go and take it out. The nurse refused saying "you put it in, you take out"
I only know this because I later married the nurse.

Nod is in sombre mood. They are not keen on operating now. Op is VERY high risk and if he survives he will take a year to recover and then have only 4 year life expectancy. Without the op he has 2-3 years.
I think he has resolved not to have the op(assuming they give him the option anyway) noooo:

Sad to hear, but I would choose not to have the op.

It is the way of the NHS. They assume every patient is able to work as their project manager. An utter disgrace but I bet the accountants think it's a wonderful system

Wot he said ….. on the smoking front …when my mother was in a hospice ..there was a lounge area where one of the patients used to come to borrow fags off visitors ….one day a nurse told him to stop smoking …(it was allowed at that time in that room ) ….
He shouted at her …If I can’t smoke when I am dying ..when can I …….a moment that has stuck with me ….
