Have slowed down a lot since the cancer and the treatment and my mobility is getting increasingly restricted. I live on top of a hill and there are lots of steps up and down around the house which I have to think twice about.
Seriously considering flogging my lovely flat and moving to some sort of warden assisted retirement place. There are loads around Nottingham, some nicer than others, and not at all expensive.
Looks like a project for the new year rubschin:
Could stick a load of money in the bank and have a bit of fun with that while I still can
What says the VP?

Sounds like an excellent plan to me! Thumbs:
We certainly don't regret moving from the big house to the apartment, fewer no steps and less housework/gardening, etc.
-
Pleased you said that. I need encouragement as it feels like a big step, but looking inevitable noooo:
-
Well if your current place doesn't work for you then yes move to a better place if you can and you might as well move to what you think you'll eventually want
But won't there be less totty to admire?

Would seem to be sensible to consider somewhere that makes life easier for you. I would imagine that the reality of why you are considering moving is a bit of a tough one to accept but if it makes life easier and more manageable that has to be the biggest factor in the decision making process !!
What about a house share with Nod ? lol:

[serious]
I have watched this for a few days before throwing in my thoughts.
Fundamentally it has to be something that is best for you.
My only caution would be that going back is a difficult option and the reality of any kind of sheltered accomodation will be a big change to living in your own place.
An old chum of mine found it was very different from what he imagined and not to his liking. [/serious]
-
Thanks. It is not exactly "sheltered". It would be my own place with a range of services on tap as and when I might need them. I haven't even seen the place properly yet, so I will make a decision when I do.
ALso, I am mindful of what happened to my sister at the start of the year when she was forced to move at short notice with little or no choice about where she went to. It didn't work out well.

Fiona says there are more places coming available end of Jan/early Feb, which gives me time to make about a gazillion arrangements rather than some frightful scramble in the new year
