I'm not going to shame you Wenchy - shame on you boys I say for not being nice - beware of pcwhack: when you least expect it evil:
Sensible suggestion for weekend choc visit in your region is perhaps Mars - the factory in Slough NOT the planet before anyone thinks of that retort ::)

Mars factory in Slough ~ I thought that closed down years ago.
I do remember being asked to tender for the security contract ~ turned them down on H&S grounds as I recall.

Don't fink so ............... but could be wrong redface:
You used to be able to smell the sweet scent of wafting chocolate from there to Maidenhead - bit toooooooooooooo sweet smelling though if you'd had too much BF the night before
Step Father was the chief maintenance man at Mars - shall I tell you you've said their H&S was a pile of doggy poo ;D
-
Certainly the conditions attached to the guarding contract seriously placed risk on the guards they wanted us to supply.
-
There is a factory in Willesden of some sort that does chocolate. I once witnessed a crash between a tanker full of honey and a tanker full of cocoa.
The mess was fantastic! eeek:

"We need to be leaner and more focused. We aim to capture the engagement and dynamism of a small business with the benefits of international scale."
More management bollox.

Excessive hours, checking on heating equipment without proper training (and no budget to pay for training of Guards) and so forth. Frankly they wanted it on the cheap and whilst I may be many things cheap is not one of them. Professional ethics and all that.

Don't think chocolate is a good enough reason to visit Slough.
Not so long ago we had the Paynes Poppets factory at Waddon - could smell it from miles away.

Drove past that on the way to Wing Yip the other week. All boarded up. cry:

The bottom has fallen out of Poppetts evidently

It was a protected building but they still demolished the whole lot instaed of leaving the frontage intact. Now the locals are objecting to dwellings being built there - what do they want? Another factory?

Are this links into the thread how? rubschin:
-
since when are threads ever on topic ?
-
Thought DS might have made more of "Poppetts".
-
Threads here are allowed to develop and divert as normal conversations do. One idea sparking another. Personally I like it that way ~ as I like talking to people in a real pub.
I have to say, though, that in all the of pubs I frequented over the past 45 years I have never met anyone who, for no apparent reason, pulls out a picture of a girl with a large bust and shows it round.
If you want to simply post photographs there are threads for that in the Library.

ah but if they did that in a 'real' pub I bet they'd have lots of friends !
Not a problem for me, thought it was a nice picture, but just couldn't think of the link, elusive or otherwise razz:

I think that Berek would have found this too boring, although it might do something for Wench.

-

-
Something to do with your honeycomb.
Ingredients
75g/2½oz caster sugar
30ml/1¼fl oz golden syrup
30g/1¼oz bicarbonate of soda, sifted
To make the ice cream
600ml/1pint 1½fl oz double cream
400ml/14½fl oz can condensed milk
45ml/1½fl oz vodka
Method
1. To make the honeycomb, place a heavy-bottomed saucepan on the hob and heat the caster sugar and syrup until the sugar melts and caramelises.
2. Add the sifted bicarbonate of soda and stir well when it starts to bubble. Pour the mixture onto a greased baking tray and allow to cool in the fridge.
3. For the ice cream, whip the cream until it approximately quadruples in size. Fold in the vodka and condensed milk and whisk until firm.
4. Break the honeycomb and it mix well into the cream mixture.
5. Pour it into a container and freeze for at least eight hours, stirring ever hour or so to keep it smooth.
