But the kids are coming out of school 'bout now so must go and get their tea ready and prep myself for the evening ritual of homework, taxi driving to and from the various activities etc. May be back a bit later. C U.

Yippee! No Cubs tonight so that's a four-way trip not needed. Just one to collect from choir practice at 16.30 and that's it for the evening. I've lit a fire in celebration.

IMO Bonfire Night, if promised, should be attended.
Punishment is all very well and only you can judge how deserved but Bonfire Night only happens once a year. That is a 12 month looooooooooooooooooong punishment, making him wait 'till next year for another chance. Could you not compromise by taking him but making it plain that he COULD have missed it because of his behaviour.
To be honest this is why I favour corporal punishment at school. Justice (or injustice) is immediate. I simply do not like this "we'll report you to your parents for them to take action" routine. Makes me the bad guy when in fact the child has usually done nothing that I didn't do at school myself. For the same reason neither wife has been permitted to use the "wait 'til your father gets home" threat. I will not punish for something that happened in my absence. If I catch them then they get what's coming but I'm damned if anyone else is going to tell me to punish a child on their behalf.
Sorry ~ butt out Snoopy ..... 'snot your business. noooo:

Good grief it's like pulling teeth.
What's happened? I thought the new school was all going swimmingly well? Have you done something to upset Miss Gymslip?

Err ~ No
The fire has been lit in the sitting room where we will, as no-one is doing any extra curricular activity, all forgather this evening

No. The children will watch TV, Mrs S will knit or sew and I shall read a book. At 7.30 the boys will go to bed. At 9 the girl will go to bed and at 9.30, assuming the whisky does it's usual trick, I shall have my way with Mrs S. All in front of a nice log fire.

I'm with Snoopy on this one. Banning from a promised visit to a bonfire night is too hard on the lad. There must be some other punishment suitable.
And as to what the Boy did, leave it. Sometimes it's none of our business, especially on a public forum.

Agreed in principle, but without knowing the gravity of his offence it is not our place to judge.
He may have given Miss Gymslip a printout of Nicks comments on here. scared2:

You see, I am not that cruel. Even bought him a hot dog, but they had run out of bread so they wrapped it in a piece of kitchen towel and he ate that too! noooo:

Kitchen towel had ketchup leaking through and it was dark and so on.
