I've come down with yet ANOTHER bastard
cold man flu for the 5th time this year.
Picked it up from GROWLER jnr I reckon, who was quite poorly with it last week, and all the associated shite that comes with it. evil:
At the time, i said i'd catch it, and all Mrs GROWLER could say was, "think positive, and you won't. You always think the worst will happen, so it will"
Correct, she was right.
Her answer for not catching it then was to, "think positive"....like SHE the almighty bloody authority on these matters does. ::)
She's reluctantly complaining of having what appears to be the start of a cold this morning, when I caught her quietly and secretly taking a couple of Paracetomol. point:
-
Is this the same "think positive" person whose place of werk has been boarded up? rubschin:

If you're talkin' about the 'hut' in the car park in the 'village of the interbred' then yes. ;)
They have however moved to new premises at the 'little' version of the 'village of the interbred' a mile up the road.
-
How on earth can 'thinking positive' stop you from catching a virus? After all, that virus doesn't care if you're an optimist or pessimist.
There was a recent study on cancer sufferers that showed thinking positive made no difference to their survival rates.
Of course once you are ill you can decide whether to wallow in your misery or just get on with life.

I'll p'raps put Mrs GROWLER on here tonight to explain her 'theory'? lol:
I'm used to it U.M.
She talks utter shite all day long most of the time. ::)

Runs in the family then.... noooo:

Many people believe in "positive thinking" and that it will help them avoid various illnesses. Some even believe it will help them to succeed in their chosen career ~ as in "Every day I shall get better and better".
Personally I think nature has this sorted. Mothers, I have noticed over the years, have an apparently built in immunity to most of the ailments their children bring home from school. They also have to "get on with it" when they do catch something whereas children (and in fact males of any age) can take to their beds and "suffer" loudly.
-
One thing I discovered when The Boy arrived is that you are not allowed to be ill. Ever!

Maybe Mrs Nick and Mrs Growler could shack up together and you could move in here. They would be allowed to visit for sexual purposes only.

Well doesn't this just prove then what a load of old shite THAT theory is then ey? lol:
On the career side of things, well that's different, and I'm a firm believer in it.....for the self employed at least.
Being EMPLOYED is however a different matter, and invariably depends on the size of yer cock and just how high you can wave it. ::)

There was a recent study on cancer sufferers that showed thinking positive made no difference to their survival rates.
On a serious note, and taking slight isssue with that comment U.M., it DID in fact seem to help that woman who recently died.....can't think of her name now...who had terminal cancer, and was only given months to live. She embarked on a 'stuff you cancer' campaign for several years, running marathons and other crazy stuff.
Name please anyone?
A truly gritty determined woman if ever there was one. happy088

I agree. Our palliative care nurse reckoned that our house was the best place on his round for jollity and the like. He said that the houses of doom and gloom he only tended to visit for a week before he was no longer needed where as he was visiting us for just over a month. Also we had less need for morphine. So I think whilst it won't cure you it can certainly help.
-
It hasn't helped my 3 mates who have died of cancer in the last year (one only 42 and 2 my age eeek:)
-
Like I said it won't cure you but it may buy you more time.
-
Time in which to................?
-
Time in which to................?
Spend time with your family? Sort things out? Apologise? Make up? Pass on wisdom? Make your peace?
-
Time in which to................?
....do the things you want to do of course.
Stuff illness, it's an evil bastard and has to be treated as such. evil:
You HAVE to fight it to the bitter end and show it no mercy with your determination.
-
Nick's pre planned parting words
1. Sorry I sacked you, but you deserved it (sister 1)
2. Get a sense of humour (Sister 2)
3. Bye Mrs Nick. Your bum did look big in that ( I lied for kindly reasons)
4. Bye The Boy. Get yerself to Cambridge and keep up the piano stuff
5. The cheque is in the post (all bills)

The likelihood is that she would have survived the cancer for the same length of time whether she stayed home and bemoaned her lot or cycled up Everest.
A doctor wouldn't tell you that you only have x number of months to live, rather that with the type of cancer you have the 50% survival rate would be x months.

My consultant recently told me that if I didn't increase my daily dosage of Statins I would die three years earlier. I asked him three years earlier than when ~ he changed the subject. ::)

How can you, or anyone else for that matter, say that with confidence and belief?
It's impossible to run a comparison on someone who cannot possibly be running in two different states of mind all the time.
My theory anyway is to try and think positive on this particular matter. Nowt to lose, and it MIGHT just help.

Be warned!!!!!
There is a very nasty bug going around
I opened the door this morning and there was a ladybird there who bit my ankle and called me rude names....
