Probably my first boyhood hero ~  a truly great man. Another sure sign of my advancing years  sad24:

He was 88. But by god, he packed a lot into his life. Prolly did more in his life before Everest than all of us on here put together.

I dunno about that.. I once did an advanced mountain climbling course in Holland and passed with honours. whistle:
