Title: An Embarassing Cluck Up for Jamie
Post by: Grumpmeister on January 17, 2008, 12:03:45 PM
I would have loved to see Jamie's face when he heard about this  point:

Quote
Chef and free-range campaigner Jamie Oliver has fallen "fowl" of his own campaign after his restaurant in Cornwall used battery eggs.
The chef's programme on Channel Four about UK egg production highlights the plights of battery chickens.

But a group of farmers spotted the battery eggs while having dinner at Fifteen Cornwall in Watergate Bay.

A restaurant spokesman said it had been an embarrassing mistake and admitted Mr Oliver was very angry.

Dave Meneer, Fifteen Cornwall's chief executive said the wrong eggs had been ordered from the wrong place when the restaurant ran out of eggs.

He said he had "read the riot act" to staff and procedures had been tightened up.

Launched in May 2006, Fifteen Cornwall is one of four restaurants run by the Fifteen Foundation charity training disadvantaged young people as chefs.

Oliver was reported as saying "heads would roll" over the incident, but Mr Meneer said no-one had been sacked.

"Fifteen is about hiring rather than firing, and it is not my intention to fire anybody at this stage," he said.

The party who spotted the eggs, made up of farmers and battery farmers, were later shown around the restaurant, including its cold store containing locally-produced free range eggs from Clarence Court, Liskeard.

I have only bought free range chickens and eggs for years. There is, I gather, a problem about the definition of the term with pigs especially. Oliver has done some good work on school meals, buit in this case he get the Peter Hain award.

Had it in Romania. There wasnt a menu I could read in the restaurant so I picked something randomly and asked what it was afterwards.

Tasted quite nice really, a little like eating liver.

Still prefered the horse steak though.

The thing that gets me is this twat drives his Chelsea Tractor about the city to his next Sainsbury's advert, £1m p.a.  Then he tells us that supermarkets are responsible for the methods of farming.

Well Mr Oliver, the price of chicken or eggs is important to me, you lining your mockney pretentious pockets is not.  Give your millions back and the savings could be passed onto the consumer.

Try Something New Today, you fat tongued fucktard!
