£5 million! My potential loss of earnings would never command that sort of sum.

Anyway, all I have is a Lentigo Maligna on the side of my face that I've decided to have removed. I've been to the skin clinic a couple of times and the doctor referred me to the hospital as it's too large for him to deal with.

I went there thinking that they would be doing it there and then but I wasted most of the day for the surgeon to spend 5 minutes looking at it and to tell me he would arrange for the work to be done in a few weeks time.

Why did they admit it was a bonking injury?

Tripping over a bit of trailing ego would probably have got a payout from the household contents policy as well.

I'm almost afraid to ask how she managed to break a rib, not exactly the kind of injury you would expect from such activity.

Just a thought though, does that mean that the floodgates will now be open for regular people infected by MRSA whilst in hospital to make claims? Somehow I doubt it.

It may depend on the circumstance Tel. I'm guessing that those dozy bints who get the ridiculously sized silicon implants would have to be fairly stretchy.

Sitting down, nurse places pillow on my lap, I place right arm on pillow.
Nurse puts strap on my arm, taps for vein and tells me to clench fist.
Nurse inserts needle into my arm, tells me to unclench fist.
Nurse leans forward, my hand is open.

Quite, although last week I had an ECG. wires to go on chest and legs.

Nurse drops cable rell thing on my crotch then pressed down the reel whilst pulling out the extending cables. Not good just before an ECG!

Hellooooooooooooooooo! And thanks for the Flowers. You lot are lovely really.

The Hound is not yet (https://www.virtual-pub.com/SMF/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freesmileys.org%2Fsmileys%2Fad%2Fharp.gif&hash=90fb190c2f714a9306ee5b19cdd04b8dba49851f)

Update is that at 00.25 hours (Twentyfive past midnight) on last Wednesday night/Thursday morning I had a heart attack and was carted off to hospital (https://www.virtual-pub.com/SMF/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.freesmileys.org%2Fsmileys%2Fsick032.gif&hash=810cca939094732bca9cd84eef8b8fd33a34d55a).
Bit of a bugger really as I was sound asleep when it started. Anyway they (The Cardiologists) tell me it was only a little one (well we knew that  redface:) and that there is minimal further damage to the already damaged heart muscle. Asked for a likely continued life span expectation the Consultant said "As long as anyone gets ..... in other words I don't know, just keep taking the pills as there is no further intervention that I would recommend at this time ~ live each day as if it's your last and enjoy it but remember that you will probably see the day after as well so don't be stupid"

Instructions are to "rest often, don't do too much and don't worry"

I have to say that they have given me some new pills which are a bit OTT. If I'm not sat on the loo I am feeling high as a kite but they tell me those side effects will pass.  whistle:

Anyway it's good to be back at the pub, thanks for all your kind words. I'll not be here all day, as I used to be in the past, but I'll pop in as often as Mrs Snoopy AKA Head of the in-house nursing team (Gestapo) will allow.

Look out she is pulling into the drive as I type. See you all later.

Welcome back hound.

Drugs only, no procedures?

No procedures. Had bypass in 1998 but it didn't work and they say they cannot do better now. Had Angioplasty and stenting in 2005 which also didn't work as hoped and they say there is no point in repeating that exercise. Drugs seems to be the only alternative until the technology to grow new heart muscle and accompanying arteries is proven. Cardiologist reckons that is still years away despite claims made regularly in the Daily Mail that it is just around the corner. Drugs do work but the problem is that one either grows used to them and they become less effective or (as in my case with many of them) one reacts badly to a particular drug and the "cure" is worse than the problem. See John Diamond's books "C" and "SNAKE OIL and other preoccupations". John Diamond, for those who have forgotten him was husband of Nigella Lawson, who died of throat cancer in March 2001. I agree with him that one reaches a stage when you think "F*ck this, the side effects are worse than the illness" and stop taking the drugs.

Yeah, we reached that point with my Dad. The choice came to a year of him vomiting and being in general discomfort or three months of enjoyment and no drugs and no side effects followed by palliative care. None of us had a problem with what he felt was the obvious choice.

I had the angioplasty 18 months ago and have had no problems since apart from the morning tirednes from the beta-blockers. Hospital doctor suggested taking the beta-blocker at night instead of the morning. May sound daft but it seems to have made a difference and I only changed on Sunday night.
For the first in a year I was up before 7!

Only problem is that I seem to be starving hungry when I wake up and not very hungry in the evening.

For the first in a year I was up before 7!

Only problem is that I seem to be starving hungry when I wake up and not very hungry in the evening.

When it works Angioplasty is good ~ but only when it works
They tried to put four stents into the left anterial artery and hoped that the increase in blood supply would "force" the rest of the artery to open. It didn't. Two and a half hours of invasive procedure under local anesthetic wasted. Even the Cardiologist was cursing when he decided he could do no more. Now the hope is that drug treatment will assist the heart which is busy growing it's own little "bypass" type arteries to cope with the fact that the left side is f*cked.
Beta Blockers ~ I take 75 mg Atenolol morning and 50mg at night which is above the recommended maximum dose but the Cardiologist says "You're a big chap, you can cope with that"
I also take (This is the new one) A Calcium Channel blocker each morning
An angiotensin II receptor antagonist morning & night
A diuretic each morning (They've changed that too as the one I was on caused a potassium deficiency)
A Statin each night
Aspirin (of course)
Sundry other pills connected with insulin levels (Not Metformin) and cholestoral lowering drugs.
Valium morning noon and night to help me "cope" with taking so many pills!
In total I take some 12 different drugs a day so the potential for conflict between them is great. Most of them come with warnings that they should not be taken with the others eeek: which is a little unnerving.

Hungry? I am always hungry because of the dibetes and the need to follow a diet regime. ;)
Tired? Permanently ::)

shocked003 According to my cardiologist Atenolol is one of the oldest and cheapest beta blockers around. "Modern" thinking is that Calcium Channel Blockers are better but in my case I react badly to them.
