The fire started in a building next to an empty 5 storey Victorian factory unit that is about 50ft from my desk. Some pikey's (allegedly) have been using cutting equipment to remove anything metallic from the building for the last couple of weeks.
The fact is if the fire brigade hadnt got the fire out quickly it would have spread to the 5 storey building and i would prolly be typing this from home.
Fire started about a half hour after they left.
Note the article mentions another major fire across the road. Also a disused Victorian unit.
Funny thing is these buildings and others around here are :
A/ Listed
B/ Empty
C/ In a major redevelopment / regeneration area
Funny how these old buildings spontaneously combust ain't it?

The pikeys (allagedly) were last seen this morning lurking a couple of hundred yards from the building looking somewhat nervous. point:

The orange and blue arrow is where TG's desk is. The yellow arrow is the vacant building where the pikeys (allagedly) were working.
The green arrow is about where the fire was.
As you can see if the big building goes up while we are here we may have to jump out the back windows into the canal. eeek:
As you can also see, TG has got fvck all to do today exept make piccy's. point:

As i understand it the sattelite pics merge with ariel photographs as you zoom in. Perhaps you should email live.maps.com and tell them to get it right. ::)

Anywho, aireyplane or sattelite. Why should they take the piccy from directly above my office eh?
Unless they are looking for me?........ scared2:

They saw the fire, already know you talk to Nick and took the appropriate precautions. First of which being photographic surveillance from what is hoped to be a safe distance. whistle:

Yep, convenient isn't it? The bonded warehouses in Newcastle quayside also have a track record of spontaneously combusting too. There was also an interesting article in this month's Whisky Magazine (eyes: ) about Littemill Distillery in Glasgow being "burned down by juveniles" one year after the site was aquired by a property developer. ::)
God knows how much these people cost the taxpayer. IIRC there were about 14 engines called out to the biggest Newcastle blaze.

We may be in for a sequel to this story very soon.
Most of this listed victorian building has now had most of windows knocked out and is being filled with old tyres.
The fire brigade say this is SOP. The broken windows to allow air flow and tyres to create thick smoke so the fireman cant get close.
The company have been frantically checking its insurance and I have taken extra backups in case a 5 storey brick factory falls on my servers tonight. scared2:

Forgive me if I've misunderstood but are pikeys currently preparing to set fire to a building and nobody is doing anything about it? (like phoning the police)

I'm near the bottom of the food chain here but I understand the higher ups have made phone calls. To whom I know not.
Fear not. If it goes up I shall post pics. happy088

Not been torched yet if anyone cares.
However, we were aghast today at the actions of the pikeys.
They dismantled a huge water tank the other week. This left 2 girders about 8ft long sticking out the wall about ten feet up. Not wanting to leave even the slightes grain of scrap they proceeded to tie their shabby van to the girder and drive off at speed.
This resulted in the back of the van being lifted violently 2 or 3 feet in the air as it was pulled up short. This was repeated 3 times until the rope broke.
Amazing.
What a bunch of canutes. ;)

It seems the first attempt has been made. Can of petrol and other stuff found outside. Looks like they were disturbed.
Police been called etc.
noooo:

If they are carrying cans of petrol may I suggest a compound bow and a Ramboesque flaming arrow. Should be a good way for you to get rid of work related stress. whistle:

The building with the fire escape on it is the building in question. I took the pic from the window by my desk. As you can see if it burns and falls our way we are royally f*cked.
I really hope our insurance is paid up. scared2:
Mind you we have alerted other nearby business and they are giving the pikeys the bent eye. Plus the bizzies have been sniffing around. Surely they can be so stupid as to still do it? Can they??????????
