Today marks 35 years working for the company.
Yes, March 26 1973 saw a callow youth arrive at the hallowed halls of the Baltic Exchange to start his career in a well known shipbroking firm little knowing what fun and adventure awaited him. eeek:
Where has the time gone? noooo:
You may congratulate or commiserate, either would be appropriate.
I shall be lunching at Gauchos (http://www.gauchorestaurants.co.uk/restaurants/restaurant.php?id=city) from 1pm. I may return.

That constitutes some sort of achievement these days. I have never stuck one job for more than 5 years.
Are congratulations in order? Are they giving you a watch?
1973. Blimey.I was backpacking around Europe on my gap year. Happy days. And worryingly long ago! eeek:

One does not wish to think about the other half. With her Dad being a sailr and all that she/it was prolly in a bar in the Med somewhere.
Which explains a lot.

In 1973 my parents were married and enjoying a childless existence. One that my Father had wished would continue for all time. It was not to be so. eveilgrin:

Well don't blame me .... unless your mother was a WAAF or lived in the Swindon area about nine months before she had you....... in which case I demand a retest of any DNA you may have garnered from the kennel.
PS So was my eldest son actually.

No, I believe my mother was a receptionist at the Grosvenor hotel at the time. I don't think she ever visited Swindon - and to be honest - why would you want to? ;D

-
Why would you want to visit Swindon? Well for me to punch the registrar who performed the ceremony that tied me to Mrs S#1 ..... and the only reason we were there at all is because HM Gov (In the form of the MOD) sent us there. You may have noticed that RAF Lyneham is just up the road.
It is not a place that I have ever gone or will ever go through free choice.

I'm back! a superb steak at Gauchos, good wine and a cheesecake dessert to die for.
Plenty to reminisce about, three of my companions had been at the the company 20 plus years each, the only short timer being my current boss who's only been here a year or so. Still, give him time.
To be honest I can't see myself being here much longer though, money's good but there's more to life than that. Just so that I can give my children a good start, that would be enough.

Good for you Unc ~ a real old fashioned city lunch ... thought they were a thing of the past. Now toddle off home. It's the only way to end a perfect day.

Thanks for the sentiments Snoopy, I shall leave at 5:40 as per usual. Why change the habits of a lifetime?

In 1978 I was 18 and hadn't even envisaged meeting my 'toy boy' Baldymort - if only I'd know what was ahead eeek:
