God I used to love watching his films on a Sunday with my grandad when I was a kid. There would normally be a western on and he was in most of the ones that I can remember watching.

His first film part was in 1947 ... he seems to have appeared in some 77 films as an actor or providing voice over. He did a lot of voice over work besides this for TV series and of course appeared in many other "specials" etc on US TV.
Never won an Oscar but did get a Golden Globe.
