Mine was a spanish fortuna. I was sick.
-
Well Fortuan are renowned for that. Those Ducados are a bugger!
-
My first was Lucky Strike .... I was asked for directions by a Yank sailor close to Southampton docks and I helped him carry his bags to the station. He gave me a pack of twenty ..... a whole new life opened before my 10 year old eyes! cloud9:

I haven't given up...
My first was one of my dad's Senior Service - made me cough a bit, I can tell you. I suppose I would barely taste it now, compared to my current roll-ups (golden Vagina) cloud9:
-
cussing: So why have we all ('cept Nick) given them up ..... being as how we are all so cloud9: about them?
Apparently it's bad for you. shrugs:
I've always said that if I were a man there is no way I would have ever given up. noooo:
-
Nottingham born and bred I worked at Players in my summer holidays and in my gap year. My first job one autumn was to sweep the floors and pipes to gather up all the dust and autumn leaves.
I put them in a truck I was given. When the job was done I asked where the truck should go to. "We make Number 6 out of that stuff. Wheel it over there!"

The pregnant thing. I have every intention of starting again after that is all over.
And no I'm not!

I only stopped 'cos of heart. They made it a condition of treatment .... not that the subsequent bypass worked Angry9:
I would start again but for Minimus and his asthma. Wouldn't be fair.
Anyway I've been off them for 12 years now and I really don't see putting all that tax money into the Treasury Coffers!

I hadn't bought them in the UK for a good few years anyway. And with the amount of travel that my Brother and his Girlfriend do I wouldn't have to now either. cloud9:

Strangely, the asthma I suffered when younger pretty much vanished when I started smoking. Most odd. rubschin:

It cured my Hay Fever too! rubschin:

Brother Wench agrees with both of you!

I do recall people (actors prolly) dressed in white coats, with stethescopes hanging round their necks to make them look like doctors, advertising certain brands "For Asthma Sufferers"
-
That would be the Menthol!
-
No ~ long before menthol ciggies came along. "Cool as a mountan breeze (or was it stream?) .... Consulate anyway.
The ones I had in mind were called Arial(sp?) I think.
-
Smoking must be good, as it cures Herrings
drumroll:
My brother started smoking at the age of 35 and he's not had an epileptic fit since rubschin: My dad died in 1992 after smoking 40-60 a day for forty years. The autopsy revealed his lungs to be "absolutely fine" rubschin:

Well that's 50 odd years of research disproven then. ;)
I have never, ever smoked, not even a single puff.
What's it like?

My Dad was the same. Yes he died of cancer but his lungs weren't touched.
-
My granddad smoked all his life. Died of cancer of the ear when he was 85. Do you suppose it was putting the tab ends behing his lughole that did it?
-
My Dadand Grandadf both died of lung cancer (GD after a second marriage in his 80s).My mum smoked liek a chimbley all her life (me: passive smoking) and died at 80 of summat else. F*ck it, I am off for a fag! eveilgrin:

Me bruv has just phoned. Following a lovely jaunt to Las Vegas for his wife's 40th, he returned to work on Monday and "did his back" just putting his briefcase/laptop into the car. Silly sod. He is currently prostrate at home taking large amounts of morphine. And smoking. He sounds high as a kite.
It looks like he will need another operation - he's already had two discs removed, so with another one to come out, he might end up the same height as me after all these years. ;D
-
My sympathies. Back pain is agonising. ANd the op is dodgy. He could get paralysed!
-
Ever the optimist eh Nick?
Always look on the bright side of life whistle:

Thanks Nick. He has the same specilist who operated on the previous occasions, so he's not too worried. I doubt he will be playing bowls for a while, though.

Titter ye not. He is (was) very good and his clubhouse in leafy Surrey serves a cracking pint of Flowers for £2.30.

He's had problems with those too.
Day off today, so lunching with Mrs TMR (to be) in the lovely Kingswood Arms. Sauteed kidneys on the way.

Sauteed kidneys on the way.
Down or up?
-
Down. It was delicious. Mrs TMR (to be) had the hot steak sandwich (no smutty jokes please) which again was lovely.

TMO pls send on my sympathy to your bruv - have had 'back issues' for years resulting in many nights lost sleep.
Had an orthopaedic consult here recently (x-rays the lot) and advised :-
''Ah no cartilage between the vertebrae (sad shaking of head on Doc's part when delivering this news) so no wonder it hurts you, probably osteoarthritis, got drugs for that though.......... Ah neck doesn't look too good either, major accident years ago perhaps ( ::) many ::)) should bend this way and doesn't''
This consult was just before I left for daughters hen weekend and pole dancing - still did it though cloud9:

The photo doesn't show it, but she was only about 50 yards behind at Snetterton and we had both lapped every other rider.
