Title: Help
Post by: Snoopy on April 03, 2008, 09:32:53 AM
Dear Auntie Geek

My new Vi$ta operating system is said to be "self repairing" and came with no installations discs or anything. Everytime I boot up it asks me if I want to prepare a set of "Back up discs in case of system failure". These discs, it claims, will enable me to reinstall the whole system in the event of a cats arse trophy.

Should I be worried?

Dear worried user. This is a normal function of Vista. Microsoft has, after past experience, become so paranoid about users wrecking their machines and blaming them that they have designed their new system to respond with the correct level of 'idiot proofness' for each user.

You can safely make the backup, just keep them somewhere you won't lose them.
