Not necessarily. Equity has a rule that if a name has already been registered on its books then it cant be used again, thats why so many actors have stage names. For example Martin Sheen is actually called Ramone Estevez.

Cary Grant was really Archibald Leach from Bristol and Doris Day was Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff but I suspect the name changes were for reasons other than equity cards lol:
