One imagines there will be a few sweaty eggheads at NASA next Sunday when this is supposed to land.
Will it be another Beagle? Will we be able to go point: at the yanks?
I hope it lands safely but if it ends up scatterred over the landscape I will be the first to go point: at the yanks.
'cos I bet they went point: at us. angry041:

Depends, if it just has parachutes then it has a chance but if Snoops exploits are anything to go by, any kind of flying machine and it will crash faster then Windows. whistle:

Any landing that the pilot walks away from counts as a good landing in my book.

Success. I'm glad the made it (honest) they now have more photographs of rocks. happy088
Its time they stopped pissing about and sent some blokes there. Thats one thing I'd like to seee before I check out.

Indeed, also think about all the ZeroG shagging on the trip out. rubschin:
Prolly not on the way back thoough. All will have fallen out by then. noooo:

Wimmin will be nagging the pilot to ask someone for directions before they've passed the moon. ::)

And the, presumably male, pilot will just go faster!

I imagine with all the mixed gender crews on the shuttle some couple must have been the first in history to participate in Zero G fornication.
Has anyone admitted it i wonder? YouTube clip?

It doesn't look much of a photo but it's a shot of the Phoenix lander on it's way down to the surface of Mars.
This photo was taken by the HiRISE camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
Parachute at the top and the lander still in its aeroshell with the tether lines between.

Good point. Years from now some poor sod is going to traipse out, pick it up and haul it down the scrapyard.
Why dont we fire half a million Coke tins and a few million Quik-save poly bags up an'all. noooo:

Contextual photo on the earlier Phoenix landing post.
Although it looks like it's heading straight into the crater it's actually some 20 kilometres in front of it.

What a great picture! ;D
-
When you consider that was taken from orbit and everything is moving at thousands of miles an hour in different directions that is quite an amazing pic.
-
And that Mars is well over 100 million miles away at the moment and the robot craft taking the picture had to be programmed to point it's cameras in the right direction based on the projected trajectory of the Phoenix lsnder.

Is the crater where Beagle "landed".

All well and good but the devil is in the detail. Now they cant get the little shovel thingy to drop soil in the little oven thingy. What a conundrum. rubschin:

They need to get a man in.

Good to see Snoopy making the case for manned spaceflight.
Alternately - make Mars a part of the EU ~ the Poles will be there by lunchtime.
