Title: The nostalgia value of confectionary.
Post by: TG on July 02, 2008, 10:22:49 AM
We have no doubt covered this before but we cant all be original can you?

Caramac.

I just saw it mentioned and it bought childhood (the better parts of it anyway) back in a sugar powered rush.

I havent seen it in a shop for yonks but it seems you can still get it.

If we are getting into childhood confectionery I'm afraid Caramac wasn't around when I was a nipper ~ Fry's Five Boys Chocolate bars were though ~ now they were something worth getting.

Yep ~ When he left the army in 1948 my Dad worked for Fry's as a merchandiser so I was not affected by the sweet rationing.  lol:

Cadbury's tribute to the inventors of chocolate lasted ten years. The Cadbury Aztec--named after the ancient Mesoamerican culture thought to have first used cocoa--was introduced in 1968. By 1978, the bar was itself consigned to history The Aztec was a chunky nougat and caramel bar, not unlike the Mars Bar.

I remember Double Diamond and Bobby Moore.

I was p*ssed on DD and the euphoria of England, Captained by Bobby Moore, winning the World Cup in 1966 when I suggested (proposed is far too strong a word) to Mrs S#1 that we should get married. The following day I could remember only the World Cup win ~ unfortunately she remembered the other bit. noooo:

Wasn't even a party. We were on leave from the RAF and went to visit her family. I got p*ssed with her father before and during the match which we watched on TV. I spoke of marriage, apparently, shortly after the final whistle as we returned to the pub. surrender:

Everlasting strip... I forgot about those. So how much would a "penny arrow(sp) bar" cost these days?

I remember most of those mentioned here, a favourite of mine was Bar Six. Strangely enough, I spotted large bars of Nestles Crunch in Sainsburys last night, I'd not seen them for years. A woman grabbed six of them  eeek:
