Question is this ~ is it quick because no bugger is using it yet?

Anyway as far as I can gather it is mostly Firefox which I use and find quicker and better than WE anyway.

Because every five minutes, or so it seems, someone else comes along with a new super improved version of something. Mostly they just fvck up your PC and eventually end up costing you  money to have them removed and the original working version of Linux or IE or Mozilla restored.
Add to that the super geekiness of having to "get the latest" or you are sooooooooooo uncool and people start to build up a resistance.
All I ask is that my PC allows me access to the internet (Research and Email), word processing abilities and photograph/document storage. I don't want or need anything else. I don't play games, download movies or music.
Everyone who has ever sat at my PCs over the years has said "You ought to try XXX" and frankly everytime I have it has gubbed my machine.
If I want faster downloads then I would buy a more expensive machine ~ but would still be at the mercy, as are we all, of BT and the speed of their exchanges and lines.
The more bells and whistles anything has the more it is likely to go wrong and the more it will cost to fix.

The spelling checker doesn't werk
It doesn't put emoticons where you want them (unless you type them in apparently)
I don't like the bookmark bar - it takes up more space than firefox

From Wiki: Incognito ("unknown", from Latin incognitus) may refer to:

Incognito (comparative more incognito, superlative most incognito)

Without being known; in disguise; in an assumed character, or under an assumed title

In this context however it is a facility in Chrome that allows browsing without, so they claim, leaving any trace.
Quote
Incognito mode is a browsing mode in Google Chrome that allows the user to surf the web without storing anything in browsing and download histories

Of course an alternative is to set your pc to erase your history after each session. This takes care of the local records unless the "experts from forensics" get their hands on it.
I doubt that it (Chrome) will hide where you have been browsing from either Google or Government snoopers but it will prevent other users of your PC from seeing which porn sites you've been on.... as will the method described above.

Agreed.

However if you are doing a big search then I can see it being very handy as it opens all the web pages in batches and you can scroll through them.

I imagine it being a bit slow if you have a clockwork internet connection while you are searching though.

Also, if the web pages have sound files on the home page it seems to play them all at once, this results in a godawful cacophany from ones speakers. Or at least it did on my first search attempt.

Worth a look.

Well "embed" seems to werk like ..... If you want all that verbiage with it.

Think I'll stick with the tried & true (as described) method that has served me well here and elsewhere for several years.

I use the embed method but I just delete all the stuff either side of the first two sets of double quotation marks (and the quotes themselves)

I have to tick the "old" embed method otherwise I get this:

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/LM6jsC0uy4E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

An issue might be that our board doesn't allow embedded html - only the Admins are able to use the html tags...  whistle:

Firefox ~ cunning but a bloody nuisance

Chrome ~ shiny but ultimately worthless

Opera ~ pretentious and overblown

Safari ~ you have to hunt for the good bits.

IE9 ~ does the job(bies)
