Indeed that looks worth watching.
Did you catch him on the radio with Matthew Parris yesterday talking about Hogarth. Very entertaining but then they are two very bright men.

Interesting programme ~ worth watching.

Between Beeching and Ernest Marples the railways never stood a chance Even though nobody would deny that some pruning and reorganisation was needed these two and Marples especially had their own agenda and nothing was going to change their minds.

Hislop has almost become a "national treasure"

What struck me about it is how little things have changed. People from the 1930's etc complaining about exactly the things we do now regarding cakes* trains etc.

The prog that followed was an old (1996) "Great Railway Journeys" with Victoria Wood. She went from Crewe to Crewe via Scotland. Much emphasis on Cakes, tea rooms etc............. I smiled.
