Indeed that looks worth watching.
Did you catch him on the radio with Matthew Parris yesterday talking about Hogarth. Very entertaining but then they are two very bright men.

Not really a radio man - maybe I should start.

I've just been following links off that. Ended up at disused tube stations and all sorts! Most interesting!

Interesting programme ~ worth watching.
Between Beeching and Ernest Marples the railways never stood a chance Even though nobody would deny that some pruning and reorganisation was needed these two and Marples especially had their own agenda and nothing was going to change their minds.
Hislop has almost become a "national treasure"
-
I enjoyed it immensely. Hislop is a very talented man.
-
I shall watch it this evening...
Before I go to bed at about 8pm with my cocoa of course... ::)
-
What struck me about it is how little things have changed. People from the 1930's etc complaining about exactly the things we do now regarding
cakes* trains etc.
*Never let a good running joke pause for breath says I. cloud9:

The prog that followed was an old (1996) "Great Railway Journeys" with Victoria Wood. She went from Crewe to Crewe via Scotland. Much emphasis on Cakes, tea rooms etc............. I smiled.
