If I wanted to take my children out of school and go swanning off to Spain I'd probably get fined.
School's out for Spain training (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/staffordshire/7646774.stm)
Inset days are bad enough but this is taking the p***

Best value venue!!!!!!? cussing:
What the F*** is wrong with the school hall?
If it's good enough for the pupils it's good enough for the staff. evil:
-
Sickening.
And from the College's website:
As a specialist school we attract significant Government funding and we have invested this in our children’s future, not in resources that may be out of date in a few years time, but in extra teachers.
-
Frankly, they could be right. Easyjet and lastminute.com make my life cheaper......... whistle:
-
Cheaper than staying at home and having their "seminar" in the school hall? I don't think so. evil:

I don't think even my teachers at my school in Spain used to use the Andalucia Plaza! eeek:

BREAKING NEWS
According to the BBC Today Programme common sense has prevailed and the teachers junket has been cancelled "In the face of massive opposition from Parents and Local Politicians across the Area"
'Spect they'll now have to forfiet their deposits and prolly have to pay for the cancellation ~ out of school funds.
-
It's funny how there are never enough school funds to pay for my children's trips and extra-curricula activities. I always seem to be writing out cheques for something or the other.
-
I've just forked out £170 for The Boy's trip to NORTH WALES.
Worth it though for a week of peace and quiet.

Minor went to the Welsh Cub Scout Camp last year ~ held 50 miles from here and we had to transport him there and fetch him back. Camp lasted 4 days (3 nights) cost £125
Excuses = Insurances, food (1 little boy does not cost 125 quid to feed cornflakes and beefburgers to for 4 days) and (This was the real cracker) TENT HIRE! When did the Boy Scouts not have their own tents?
This year they only had a "local camp" 2 days (overnight) at the local rugby club ground. Cost £50
Excuses as above.
THW 5 day trip to Paris last year = £500 eeek:
Excuses = Insurance, Coach & Driver hire, Food. Accommodation was dormitory in a converted convent. Two of those days were spent travelling from North Wales.
From here, driving overnight, I can reach Dover in a little over 5 hours ~ done it several times. They took 9 hours because the driver has to take a break every two hours ::)
-
The cost of the trip has not been disclosed, but a calculation by the BBC's Midlands correspondent Fiona Trott estimated it at £18,000, based on 80 staff travelling to the Spanish city.
Not a bad price but still unjustified. cussing:
-
One wonders about Trott's figures, but if it's accurate then that's £225 each.
As staff training goes that's not bad.
(Speaks as provider of staff training)

The Andalucia Plaza Marbella Hotel, which the school has booked, said it charged roughly £635-a-day for conference facilities while a standard double room was charged at about £90-a-day.
4 day conference @ £635 per day = £2,540
Rooms: 3 nights x 80 x £65 (assumed single room cost - no sharing!) = £15,600
Total £18,140
Must be paying for their own food and drink.
