I had an email in from a client today. Nice to get some work in for a change eeek:
He regularly sends me CDs that I can't open because he's written them incorrectly ::)
But hey, he now attaches the file to the email so that's a plus one might think...
File size? ... Forty Megabytes eeek: ::) I actually managed to get a nap while waiting for it to download eeek:

Think yourself lucky ~ BM would have had time to drive a circuit of Cyprus waiting for a file that size to download.

Where I used to work, a secretary once decided to send out a 60Mb Powerpoint doc to numerous users around the globe - our Exchange server ground to a halt for several hours, we couldn't even get into it to shut things down.
-
Yup. Mrs Nick crashed the University server a while back by sending photos

Why can't people learn to put things on a website and allow folks to download?
-
Speaking for myself and not "people" it's because I can't be arsed.

It could be time to suggest a program like 7z or Winrar to compress the files before emailling.

Indeed, if he tries it again I'm going to suggest he uses compression s/ware... which I will then have to talk him through in ickle steps ::)

That was why I suggested Winrar, right click on the file to send and select the zip and mail option. So simple not even Nick could cock it up.
For larger files though I'd recommend 7z as the compression rate is far superior.
