Post by: Nick on November 18, 2008, 10:03:48 AM

Sensible suggestions for idiot proof online source for doing this dead quick, like.

Growler can help with this, cos he set one up so it must be idiot proof!

This place runs on servers at Easyspace (http://www.easyspace.com/)

I think if you buy the URL and webspace from them they have an 'easy-web' thing for setting up a simple web site...

Thank you Baldymort.

What can possibly go wrong?

99% of domain name providers will sell you a domain with web space. None are hard to use, most come with an idiot's guide. How long you want it for will make a difference to the price. I personally use Nameroute who also host the site for me, provide 20 or so email addresses (web-based email naturally) so you can have an "info@nicksite.com" as well. Only problem is you have to remember to go to the site to check the emails ~ which I seldom do.

Wenchy's knowledge of html is pitiful and limited. She wouldn't presume that her "skill" in that area is chargable.  noooo:

I really need to sort myself out a proper website though.  rubschin: Perhaps domain name purchase and hosting as a Christmas present?  rubschin:

I pay £22 for three years domain registration and hosting. Bigger packages are available at extra costs. Can't refer you to the site as it is down being revamped.

Dont take this the wrong way Nick but have you checked to local library for 'Building a Website for Dummies'? If you havent done anything like this before the dummies guides do make a good starting point.

OK, so I found someone to update part of my own website, but they cannot figure out how to reactivate the dormant pages. I have asked the hosting outfit and they are playing dumb. Any suggestions?
