All very christmassy in the Tg's household as i have put up the pretty xmas tree and decorations...all very nice, who else has ? tis only 24 days to christmas now.... cloud9:
-
Our trees and decorations will go up on the 21st December as usual. Too early and we find we are bored with it all by the time Christmas arrives.
The only things that will be put out before the 21st will be the Nativity set which sits on a table in the entrance hall (as is traditional the "Wise Men" will move closer to the crib each day until Christmas Day) and the Children will, of course, have their Advent Calendar in the dining room ~ they will find it there when they get up in the morning.
The children really do get enough of pre Christmas hype forced on them at school without coming home to it ~ we believe that they should appreciate the reasons for Christmas are more than German Traditions (imported by Prince Albert) and the grabbing of as many presents as possible.
I asked them last night what they hoped for as presents this year. 15 year old wants a break from GCSE revision. 10 year old wants to be 11 and says there is nothing in the world that he wants and the 7 (soon to be eight) year old would like to be cured of his egg and nut allergies. They all said they wanted me to be well again. Two of them have never known me well.
-
We put ours up yesterday... shite really... same as last year like... noooo:
-
Since I received one as a gift in the early 80's, I have looked out for the "Gentlemans Advent Calendar" in vain.
It was a large wooden affair with little doors that concealed a different miniature of a fine malt for each day.

I seem to recall stories of the Enchanted Forest from long ago rubschin: The same one? Still?
-
It seems to grow a little with each passing year.
-
Last year was the Enchanted Forest's first proper year. The years previous to that were just one or two trees. We now have three and a reindeer. redface:

eeek:
Full size Reindeer or just a pair of seasonal comedy antlers?

So would your electricity company. You would have to make sure you didnt live anywhere near an airfield though, it could constitute a hazard to navigation. whistle:

One of our cats has been eating tinsel stuff off the tree. I know this because it caused violent projectile vomiting.
When I came home yesterday it appeared a cat had exploded in the front room. Not pretty, apart from the shiny red tinsel mixed in with it.
I have had to borrow a carpet cleaner. noooo:

Never stint on grooming products Mrs TG cool14: I'm sure your son will return brimming with Gallic charm ;)

It's gorgeous stuff but seriously pricey. noooo:
The only good thing about it is you only need a tiny amount of whatever it is you are using so they do last an awful long time.
