Without wanting to ignore what these athletes achieved at the Olympics, I was angered by the way the BBC, Sky, ITV and the rest of the media reported these honours yesterday. They are sports people, the very best we have, nothing more, nothing less. Once we'd seen the clips of them at the Olympics winning their events again, once we'd seen them parading around London on the bus again, once we'd seen them being interviewed and saying what n honour it was, we were then told that Sara Payne (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7804970.stm) had been given an MBE too. Sara Payne and her efforts are worth far more air time than any of these people were given, Sara Payne wasn't shown being interviewed, maybe that was her choice and it says a lot about her and this world of "celebrity" that we seem to live in? The whole system has had no real merit for some time now, an overhaul is long overdue
