Title: No investigation over Home Sec's expenses claims
Post by: Snoopy on February 10, 2009, 05:32:47 PM
No surprise there then

Quote
The parliamentary standards watchdog has dismissed a complaint about Home Secretary Jacqui Smith's expenses.
John Lyon will not investigate claims made about her use of the second homes allowance for MPs.

Of course there wasn't going to be an investigation. Even if they wanted to make one Brown couldnt afford the scandal at the moment especially after bringing Mandy back into the fold.

I've been saying this for a while now, and especially with the housing market crashing the way it is wouldnt it be cheaper to just build or buy a block of housing or a big enough hotel and then add in all the security it would need to keep the MP's safe. No more need for second homes as they would have accomodation cutting that little fiddle and the security costs would be dramatically reduced as it would be a single building they would be protecting.

She'll no doubt claim that to live in a "Grace and Favour" home would be against her socialist principles ~ whereas ripping tens of thousands of £s off the tax payers isn't of course.

I'm not talking about grace and favour homes BM, I'm on about having a block of accomodation for all MP's, ideally close to parliament. Removing the need for grace and favour homes, the second home allowance and the John Lweis list on one fell swoop.

To be honest I was thinking something along the lines of the Big Brother house. See how they like the idea of constant surveillance seeing as they are happy to force it on the ret of us.  whistle:

Paul Moore, the former head of risk at HBOS, told the IoS that he has more than 30 potentially incendiary documents which he will send to MPs on the Treasury Select Committee

Expect another "suicide" to be found in a field, with slightly damaged wrists, three aspirin in his stomach and a compliant coroner on hand.

I see that Gordo is arranging a meeting with the Pope, didn't Tone 'convert' to catholisism in the dying days of his stay in Number 10? We can but hope.
