Title: Salmon fish fingers
Post by: Miss Demeanour on February 28, 2009, 08:25:31 PM
Forget my rather mild dislike of fish based food products, this is not tainting my point of view in this instance  rubschin: - but honestly for those people that do actually like eating the most vile food in the world,  what on earth would make them want to eat Salmon Fish Fingers ???  noooo:

I thought the whole point of fish fingers is that they were cheap, crappy food made of scraps (also see nuggets ) - that you could smother in ketchup and get your kids to eat. Thus convincing yourself that they were eating something mildly healthy  noooo:

Trying to make them more refined now and upmarket by making 'Salmon Fish Fingers ' is a nonsense.

Does this also mean that they are better for you because they are / or were , part of a Salmon at some point. Though what part is debatable  confused2:

Nonsense . Utter, utter tosh  noooo:

Salmon has a "reputation" for being an expensive and actually rather good for you fish.
When the big push was on to sell fish fingers and every frozen food company jumped on the bandwagon the "best" you could get (ie the most exensive) were claimed to be made of Cod. Cod is now considered an endangered species and thus is even more expensive. Meanwhile salmon (as bought in most shops) is crap farmed fish that is half the price of cod and that is still an inflated price to charge for farmed fish but the perception is that salmon is a good for you fish and "expensive". The fish farming industry has so much of it they have to find a way to use it hence "Salmon Fish Fingers"

Frankly I prefer to eat the trout that I catch myself ~ sometimes smoked, sometimes grilled, sometimes rolled in oatmeal and fried in butter and sometimes turned into fish cakes.

I well understand those who do not like fish tho' I personally like it (a brace of kippers on a Sunday morning goes down very nicely) and I enjoy shell fish too ~ I am lucky that Mrs S#2 is allergic to shellfish so I get to eat her portion too. cloud9:

Actually, climbing out of an aeroplane at 10,000 feet is significantly easier than falling off a 200 foot high crane with elastic bands strapped around your ankles...  ;D

That took no effort though, 1 drained hip flask and a swift shove from some evil bastard behind me and I was away. Wouldnt have minded quite so much except it was over water and you sharpen up instantly the moment your head gets submerged.   sad24:

True but I have never understood the desire to jump out of a perfectly serviceable aeroplane.

I have done the parachute course however. Jumping off the back of a moving truck (to learn how to land and roll), Dropping from a hanger roof with a pre-deployed chute and jumping from the basket of a tethered balloon. My first jump from an aircraft was cancelled due to a base "lockdown" (simulation of attack on the airfield). As it turned out I was lucky because the rest of the course went on the aircraft jump and were killed. First fatal crash in the history of Transport Command. ~ What is meant to be will be I guess.
I never did jump from an aeroplane.

Oh Yes!
My favourite carousel is at Efteling in Holland
The carousel dates from 1895 and is now housed indoors but is in full working order. A wonderful experience.
