Title: Chocolate buttons now banned here
Post by: GROWLER on March 28, 2009, 09:04:13 AM
We're never going to hear the end of this now. ::)
The cocky little arrogant rich tosser looks as though he's going to be in with a serious challenge for this years title, god help us.
What the hell McClaren are doing fannying around with this diffuser nonsense is beyond belief.
They, like all the other teams, have had all winter and millions of pounds to sort themselves out.
No doubt there is more to all this new regulation crap than meets the eye. Just hope they get their act together and bloody pronto.

I'm not very well up on motorsport, but isn't it Hamilton who is the chocolate one, not Buttons?

Very droll DS, very droll. ::)

Hamilton is the lad that came through the ranks showing true grit hard graft and determination, with his father working all the hours that god sent to do overtime on the railways to help his lad succeed.
Every admiration for the talented lad, wheras chocolate buttons got where he is by simply having very rich daddy to buy his way in.

So you don't like Jason Button simply because he comes from a 'wealthy' family.  ::)

Whatever your prejudices Button's a good driver and I hope he and the Brawn team do well.

Sort of yes I admit. I always support the 'underdogs' that achieve through merit and bloody hard work sweat and tears, and come up through the ranks from nothing. Mansell 'Lionheart' was the same.
I suppose it all stems from looking back on my life. I'm actually quite proud of myself for what I've achieved, considering my background and dreadful experiences at school, which ultimately led me to coming away from the education system with next to nothing.
I've got a reasonably successful business or two which I've built up on my own with no financial help from wealthy parents, done many things that others haven't, and to quote from 'The Who', "I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth".

Anyway, I see 'Button's won  ::) but Hammy fought through to finish 4th.  cloud9:
A fine achievement by him, and hopefully they'll sort his car out quickly to get him back where he belongs. At the TOP!

Hamilton is hardly an underdog is he...?

Good at his chosen sport, he was lucky to have been picked out by a racing team with countless millions of Pounds to invest in him and the car's technology...

Hardly a rags to riches story...  noooo:

Underdog was p'raps not the bestest werd to use. Rags to riches maybe though, in terms of his initial background.
Whatever words you/we choose to use, you, or at least I, admire the way he's worked his way through the ranks, and yes, been picked up by multi million pound McClaren, and then shown to us all what he can and did achieve.
I admire his humble attitude. Nowt pretentious about him.

Anyway, it's a bit like footie or Rugby. You choose the one you want to support and stuff the rest, and it hurts when your chosen one isn't or can't ...as in this case...perform properly.

Correction to earlier post ~ Jenson Button.

He drove a good race and fortunately kept well out of the 'melee' behind him.

Quote from: BBC Web Shite
Hamilton loses Aussie GP points

Lewis Hamilton and McLaren have been stripped of their podium finish and all points at the Australian Grand Prix.

The sport's world governing body said they were excluded "for providing evidence deliberately misleading to the stewards at the hearing on 29 March".

Thankfully it's the landlord's duty to present bad news like that BM. We'll be watching from a safe distance.  whistle:

Which all goes to prove that it is the car and not the driver that counts these days ~ the whole thing could be done by remote control really.

Sorry for those that still follow F1 but frankly there is more exitement in watching my kids race one another at the local go-kart track. tunble:

Actually I'm sure watching one's own 'cutting the mustard' would be far more enjoyable  ;), but todays GP was about errors and being on top form. It's the car, the strategy, the driver, the tyres, the weather, the whole mix, and today it went Russ Brawn's way again. I'm no technical fan but I still find it very enjoyable and this season's new rules seem to have upset the old order interestingly.

I watch Time Team hoping to see the day when Phil Harding finally plants his spade right in the skull of Tony Robinson.

I don't know why he hasn't done it yet ~ I would have. eveilgrin:

I would rather watch Squash or Badminton than F1 all of them are utterly boring.

I think the most boring sporting event I have ever heard broadcast has to be snooker ~ on the radio. ::)

I don't mind watching it but on the radio it was meaningless.

;D Who was it who said; "For those watching in black and white, the blue ball is behind the green" or something similar to that? I watched Hendry score a 147 yesterday, he was has cool as a cucumber

Legend has it that it was John Motson who said "For those watching in Black and White, Chelsea are the team wearing blue"

Now that Button has won the championship, perhaps he now afford to buy a razor to shave the ridiculous bum-fluff off.
