At what point is Miss D officially AWOL and when do we send out the search parties, I have been watching the night skies down here and have seen no distress flares.

Reliable sources tell me that there will be a press conference in about an hour when all questions will be answered. Refreshments are available and more popcorn will be arriving shortly. In the meantime a file of press cuttings and photos for publication will be circulated to ensure you all have the latest information.
I thank you  ;)

Little known facts about the IoW (where once I had a pub and a house)

The ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth was, when I was doing the trip regularly, more expensive in terms of pence per mile covered than to fly to the US on Concorde or to pass along the Panama Canal in a luxury cruise liner.

Queen Victoria was so concerned at the amount of obvious inbreeding by the natives that she ordered Lord Palmerston to increase the garrison of soldiers on the IoW to thin out the bloodlines.

IoW people refer to anyone who was not born on the Island as an "Overner". They are of course happy to take your money.

The IoW is not what it was when I was younger ~ back then it was a very laid back hippyish place ~ even before the hippies got there.

Lord Tennyson lived there in Freshwater ~ my house was just up the road but not at the same time obviously.

French Chefs rate IoW garlic very highly and many prefer it to their home grown variety. The IoW Garlic Festival, held in August, attracts people from all over the world. The French Chefs are right ~ IoW garlic is much sweeter and stronger than any I have ever bought in France.

Not a lot of people know that

Well I didn't want to tell her before she went ~ might have spoilt it for her.

BTW Best Pub/hotel on the IoW is the Wight Mouse at Blackgang. Sunday lunch with locals having a Jazz jam session is a real treat. People just wander in with instruments and join in ~ nothing organised, or it wasn't when I knew it. Couple called Brad and Jean ran it back then but I did hear they had sold out for £squillions.

Best Restaurant was in Ventnor ~ "La Cloche" Married couple ran it. She was IoW gal and he was the biggest, blackest bugger that ever wore a chef's whites but he could cook like an angel. Only about 20 covers but the best atmosphere you could imagine and wonderful food.

Oh and a Ford Fiesta 1.4S can jump the distance twixt East Cowes slipway and the Ferry as the boat leaves so long as the gates on the deck are still open and you hit the ramp doing 60 ~ it helps if you are pissed and the deck is empty 'cos you need the stopping space. redface:

There have been some serious amounts of drinking going on this weekend and this has taken it's toll on some more than others.

One of the gals was driving back to the ferry tonight whilst her bloke slept off his over indulgence. Except she was feeling none too clever herself.

She was just in front of us and as we were queueing to board the ferry and we were being heralded to move forward in the queue she drove the car forwards and then promptly puked all over the inside of the windscreen  noooo:

At least that woke her bloke up  noooo:

Glad you had a nice time.  ;)

In the dim and distant when I was involved in such tours, it was also de rigeur to take along a group of 12 young ladies who were happy to "merge".

The girls were very well behaved I'll have you know DS  lol:

A few of us gals ditched the group yesterday and went off and did our own thing  ;) We had a very pleasant picnic ( well mostly wine with a few scraps of food thrown in   Shrugs:) , sat on a  secluded little beach for several hours and chatted and laughed the afternoon away in the sun . Perfect  cloud9:
