For one horrible moment I thought the topic title might be an order  eeek:

When stationed at RAF XXX Some bastard in the control tower gave me clearance to drive along the runway in a Land Rover. That same arse then gave clearance for a Comet 4 to land on the same runway.... coming in behind me! Fortunately the pilot was more awake than Air Traffic Control and managed to miss me. To my dying day I shall not forget the sound of the pilot giving it full welly to get back up and over me. Close enough to scorch the paintwork on the Land Rover and damn near suffocate me.
The Court of Enquiry cleared me, praised the pilot and busted the Air Traffic Controller down to Pilot Officer and ordered him to be retrained.
