Title: Expressions that irritate
Post by: Miss Demeanour on July 05, 2009, 04:53:59 PM
I am just watching the end of the tennis .....as well as the usual comparisons of this that and the other, the banal commentary and the desperate attempts at humour and angst they have just used one of my most  disgusterously disliked  expressions... evil:

" When the going get tough the tough get going" - apart from reminding me of that awful Billy Ocean song it is a feckin stupid expression . It means nowt and is pointless

I don't like it  angry041:

When I used to ski, sorry but I did  ::), many developed an alternative strategy when faced with demanding conditions...

"When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping!"  Try thinking of that next time you hear it....  lol:

And another is '...of all time'. The BBC use this one a lot, as in 'Michael Jackson was the greatest pop star of all time.'

Have the cvnts no historical sense? What pop stars did Neanderthals have? Or the Romans? Or the Victorians?

Idiots  cussing: cussing: cussing:

Come on Nick ~ don't tell me you haven't cringed when some twat says "I want to be pacific about these details".

And I hate it when people say reticent when they mean reluctant.

And don't even start me on 'disinterested'  cussing:
