In truth folks I am 62 and have been working since I left school at 15. I have had a lot of jobs because I have never had any "real" qualifications and thus always had to work today to be able to afford to go to work tomorrow. Also made the big mistake of marrying at 19 and having a son before I was 21 so there has always been a need to earn ~ I have never been fussy about what I did as long as it paid more than the previous job.
Given my time again ~ I don't think I would have done it any differently.

So what is the worst job you have ever had rubschin:
Mine was working in a chippy when I was 16. Thursday , Friday and Saturday nights and waiting for the pubs to shut before the rabble of pissed up eejits came in wanting to stuff their faces. Then going home stinking of chip fat noooo:

Without doubt the 12 weeks I spent working in a Builders Merchant's Yard when I first came out of the RAF. Bloody awful weather and 10 hours unremitting hard labour for £9 a week and the rent on our flat was £5 so I was also working in a local pub during the evenings and weekend.

Worst job...? rubschin:
I worked with a lunatic at BICC Wood Lane... noooo:

Can't say anything about jobs, but there have been quite a few moments.
-
In the RAF ~ great times but also some lousy moments.
Standing guard over a crashed and burnt out helicopter overnight on Marlborough Downs when I knew the crew's bodies were still inside was not good. Getting the bodies out at dawn was worse.

My worse job was being a skittle sticker upper for a womans skittle team. Bloody constant cackling and an alley full of cigarette smoke, all for two half crowns, and I had to bike it there about three miles and back.
-
Did you strike out whistle:

No bad job so far, but the current one certainly has its stresses.
There's been a few bad days along the way, but many good ones

My worst job, by far, was as a cashier in a petrol station in Wandsworth. I was 17 and when what appeared to be a 15 year old sticks what appeared to be a shotgun in your face (after I had booted him out 15 minutes prior for shoplifting) you start wondering wheth the ?2.50 per hour I was getting was worth it.
The good news is I survived that - and other - nights similar to it. The bad news is so did they, probably. Pressing the "panic button" in the shop only resulted in a cop car turning up about 10 minutes later. Thanks boys.
On my final night, I took the readings from the pumps, locked them and then set the alarms and went about putting the shutters on. I heard a noise and behind me were about 20 of them, all armed with baseball bats or bits of wood. My trusty Austin 1300 was near so I ran straight to it, opened it, started it and nailed it out of the forecourt - taking two on the bonnet - onto the Wandsworth Road. They fell off and I went home shaking like a leaf. I lost that day's pay as it wasn't "secured properly" but to be honest I really didn't care.
It wasn't all bad though, Stirling Moss and Vanessa Redgrave were regulars...
