http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2009/dec/01/ozone-antarctica
In essence this report says that the hole in the ozone layer is repairing itself and once it does we are in big trouble because the lack of a hole in the ozone layer will cause temperatures to rise, icecaps to melt and sea levels to rise.
I may have got the wrong end of the stick but wasn't all the fuss about greenhouse gasses because it was thought that they were destroying the ozone layer thus allowing the nasty sun's rays, from which we are protected by the ozone layer, to penetrate our atmosphere causing temperatures to rise, icecaps to melt and sea levels to rise?
I do wish the fvcking climate change monkeys would settle on a story and stick to it.
Now repeat after me ~ The Climate Change theory has recently been thoroughly discredited when it was revealed that scientists at the University of East Anglia, in concert with others, have been conspiring to falsify the statistics on which the whole Climate Change Lobby relies. Despite valiant attempts by interested parties such as Businesses that are banking huge sums promoting carbon transfers at a price, building wind farms that will never make a dent in our energy requirements and Politicians like Al Gore, Little Milipede et al who will be out on their ear when the truth is known, to deny what has been proven beyond reasonable doubt by the leaking of emails in which the scientists clearly admit to rigging the results of their research in an attempt to prove their pet theory, the truth is that the whole thing has been a gigantic con with little or no basis in real scientific fact.
Hundreds of private emails and documents allegedly exchanged between some of the world's leading climate scientists during the past 13 years have been stolen by hackers and leaked online, it emerged today.
The computer files were apparently accessed earlier this week from servers at the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit, a world-renowned centre focused on the study of natural and anthropogenic climate change.
Climate change sceptics who have studied the emails allege they provide "smoking gun" evidence that some of the climatologists colluded in manipulating data to support the widely held view that climate change is real, and is being largely caused by the actions of mankind.

But then I have been saying it is all a con for years.

I think it is all a grand plot to get the ignorant masses prepared for ever increasing energy bills and not having cars when fossil fuels get scarce, which is not a fantasy.
If you can put in a Bogey Man of floods, starvation and pestilence then they will have to accept the costs, taxes and inconvenience more easily.

I'm undecided, has the climate has changed? it seems so, are we the cause? probably, at least in part, does it matter? shrugs:

It matters if they spend billions of our money trying to fix it based on bad science...

True. What pisses me off is the 'carbon footprint' malaky. It's seems that everyone that tells me I need to reduce my footprint (politicians, 'celebrities' etc) all have a much bigger footprint than I could ever have.

Just say no to their demands. Long overdue on that score...

It is certain that mankind is using up the reserves of oil and other commodities at an alarming rate. It will be a lack of these basics and our failure to make adequate provision to replace them with other technology that will have a bigger effect on us as a species. Evolve or become extinct will be the cry in the fullness of time but that message would not currently suit anyone whose income is derived from oil, metal ores or coal and gas. Next to this the climate changing, as it always has within an irregular but recognisable cycle, is very small beer indeed.
Of course the problem with the evolution theory is that we as a species think that we have evolved about as far as we need to. Not so I fear.

Britain's big freeze is the start of a worldwide trend towards colder weather that seriously challenges global warming theories, eminent scientists claimed yesterday.
The world has entered a 'cold mode' which is likely to bring a global dip in temperatures which will last for 20 to 30 years, they say.
Summers and winters will all be cooler than in recent years, and the changes will mean that global warming will be 'paused' or even reversed, it was claimed.
Scientists have claimed that the world has entered a 'cold mode' which could last three decades, a theory that challenges climate change
The predictions are based on an analysis of natural cycles in water temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
They are the work of respected climate scientists and not those routinely dismissed by environmentalists as 'global warming deniers'.
Some experts believe these cycles - and not human pollution - can explain all the major changes in world temperatures in the 20th century.
rubschin:
-
One of those eminent scientists also said:
So I really believe in Global Warming. Okay. However, you know, we have to accept that there are these natural fluctuations, and therefore, the temperature may not show additional warming temporarily

A WARNING that climate change will melt most of the Himalayan glaciers by 2035 is likely to be retracted after a series of scientific blunders by the United Nations body that issued it.
Two years ago the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issued a benchmark report that was claimed to incorporate the latest and most detailed research into the impact of global warming. A central claim was the world's glaciers were melting so fast that those in the Himalayas could vanish by 2035.
In the past few days the scientists behind the warning have admitted that it was based on a news story in the New Scientist, a popular science journal, published eight years before the IPCC's 2007 report.
cussing: Explode:
It has also emerged that the New Scientist report was itself based on a short telephone interview with Syed Hasnain, a little-known Indian scientist then based at Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.
Related Internet Links
Hasnain has since admitted that the claim was "speculation" and was not supported by any formal research. If confirmed it would be one of the most serious failures yet seen in climate research. The IPCC was set up precisely to ensure that world leaders had the best possible scientific advice on climate change.

And that is the whole point. If the IPCC admitted that there is no global warming they would be out of a very well paid job. So they will never tell the truth.

To clear up any confusion - there are 2 organisations called WWF.
One WWF is the World Wildlife Foundation and the other is World Wrestling Federation.
One of these is a blatantly commercial organisation - making money by staging over-hyped unbalanced events containing plenty of ad-libbing but a pre-arranged conclusion. The other WWF runs wrestling tournaments.

World may not be warming, say scientists!
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/environment/article7026317.ece
It warned that greenhouse gases had already heated the world by 0.7C and that there could be 5C-6C more warming by 2100, with devastating impacts on humanity and wildlife. However, new research, including work by British scientists, is casting doubt on such claims. Some even suggest the world may not be warming much at all.

Have you heard rot on the radio this morning? Have you? cussing:
It pointed to controversial phrases used in the published e-mail correspondence, including the terms "trick" and "hide the decline".
The report stated: "We are content that the phrases were colloquial terms used in private e-mails and the balance of evidence is that they were not part of a systematic attempt to mislead.
So hiding the decline is just a figure of speech is it? Banghead
