Title: A conundrum
Post by: Nick on January 30, 2010, 01:20:55 PM
I was recently commissioned to do a big job for an American outfit operating in this country. They paid, the locals supervised the work.

The American company closed its financial year books in December and paid up in advance (?12K  eeek:)

The English outfit has gone bust and the job is off.

The Americans don't want the money back as it is too complicated apparently.

I seem to have been paid for nothing and no one wants the cash back  rubschin:

Charity or Caviar?

I was once paid twice for one job (a similar amount of dosh, too). The first payment came from the client who instructed in the first place; the second payment came (eventually) from a company who nicked the idea, infringed copyright, lied through their teeth and finally when confronted with the evidence coughed up.

Not quite the same conundrum as yours but I'd done nothing for the second payment... other than argue. I say buy a safe investment for a rainy day  razz:
