It is Green Monday (or Clean Monday) here... Start of Lent or summat...?
Anyhoo, traditionally Cypriots fly kites... after a mahoosive (non-meat) lunch...
It is the stillest day I've ever experienced here - not a breath of wind... happy001

We have Pancakes tomorrow ~ same sort of idea.
rubschin:
Mind I thought that Greek Orthodox Easter was on different dates to the usual Catholic/Anglican one so it would follow that Lent would be on different dates too.

Thus begins my annual gripe about this country. Cypriots get a day off and go kite flying and feasting. Brazilian wimmin dance naked through the street for three days. Ditto in New Orleans.

I will be in Lanzartotty. Wonder what rituals they have? rubschin:
I checked: Carnival
The carnival is defined as a public celebration that takes place immediately before the Christian Lent, with a date variable that can range from late January until early March depending on the year. This festival combines some elements that make it unmistakable, as costumes, parades and festivities on the street. It was also well known to some festivals of a similar nature at any stage of the year. Despite many of the big differences that presents its celebration throughout the world, a common characteristic is to be a period of permissiveness and some slippage.
Permissiveness I understand eyes: but what the fook is "slippage" rubschin:

Easter changes one week a year until it is four weeks away from yours then resets to the same again...
Just taken the dog for a walk along the cliffs where the trees are bent in half by the prevailing wind... Loads of Cypriots throwing kites in the air and having them fall down on their heads again... noooo:
Still, most years the kites get caught around the power cables and cause mahoosive blackouts...

Next to CAKE and choccy, they're me favourite. cloud9:
I might try an experiment tomorrow and lob some CAKE and choccy in one or ten, just for fun like. happy088

Nutella on pancake is very nice. We have also experimented with crumbled cake between two pancakes drizzled with melted chocolate. redface:

Yes, and? Popcorn:

A little heavy but still rather tasty. We went with a fairly light lemony sponge which was quite nice. We also added cream from a can. redface:
This year, we are having savoury pancakes with ham, mozarella, mushrooms and white sauce. Then old school lemon and sugar for pudding.

And then what will you have for lunch?

I don't do breakfast during the week. That is for dinner. Mr Wench is away, Brother Wench and I are free to mess the kitchen up however we like.
