I have never suffered from this in my life.  I have just been out to nick some pick some flowers my eyes are streaming I am sneezing and I seem to be full of snot.  Can it happen that quickly?

Touch wood I have never suffered but my wife, who does, tells me that it can indeed be that swift a reaction. She also tells me that something that can effect you this year may not ever do so again and conversely something that has never caused a problem before may provoke a reaction that you will be left with forever.

She says "What flowers were you nicking picking?"
