Finally persuaded Mrs Tel to go to the GP this morning. Although she has been feeling a bit better since last Fridays nights alarums, she is still getting some pain and someitimes it is quite severe.
GP reckons it is Renal Colic - kidney stone in other words.
When she told him that her father had suffered with stones, he said that it is herediatry (something I did not know).
Anyway blood test this morning and awaiting appointment for a scan.
Antibiotics and pain-killers prescribed.
-
Sympathy to Mrs T Tel.

I think they zap those nowadays with ultra sonic beams or summat.

Bad luck Mrs Tel, That can be very painful but the treatment is quick and effective these day.

You are of course, stumbling to say "Extracorporeal shock wave treatment" or Lithotripsy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extracorporeal_shock_wave_lithotripsy)

Painful and Mrs Tel has my sympathy.
Must admit I have had them but didn't know they could be hereditary.
Mine broke up and dispersed (passed) the night before I was due to have them "zapped".
-
Thanks guys.
The starting approach is just to drink lots of fluids in the hope that the stone will be passed. The pain-killers are for pain relief but also to numb the body to allow the passing of the stone.
Supposed to get a call about appointment for scan within 48 hours.
Mrs Tel was worrying about the weather for next Tuesday (Hampton Court Flower Show), now she is worried about them trying arrange a scan for that day (unlikely methinks).
Just been out and bought loads more cranberry juice.
-
Send her our best wishes, Tel.

Thanks again.

If they came out whole you cold have them mounted as ear rings rubschin:
-
After she stops screaming that is ~ if they come out whole it bloody hurts.
-
There was no mention of using a tea-strainer.
Her dad kept his, never understood why people do that.
Used to be the appendix when I was a lad.
Still got all me bits.

They'd be bloody small ones. How something 1mm in size can cause so much pain is beyond me. I saw angels the day I passed mine (and I don't mean the nurses)
-
Bliss.
First proper nights sleep for a week, for both of us.

Not had them myself but understand that a diet with absolutely no fat in it is a way to stop the pain at least. Hope Mrs Tel gets over it soon.

Have just come back from going with Mrs Tel who had an ultrasound scan.
No comment from clinic apart form telling her that she's not pregnant! eeek:

Well ~ That's a relief surely?

It would have been a miracle.

It would have been a miracle.
Pah that's been done before! Had to take a trip to the local horsepickle on Sunday grim grim so very bloody grim. It is no longer a caring profession. noooo: I was only dropping a sample off but the disdain and disbelief that I was subjected to was unbelievable. I sympathize with nurses on the whole but if they honestly think that on a gloriously summers day, just for fun and a bit of a jape, I would spend 24 hrs peeing into a pot then decanting said wee into hospital provided containers then waiting for 15 minutes at a ward reception desk whilst being ignored by various members of staff. This followed by an interrogation as to where the correct paper work was, how would I know I was not given any was just doing as requested. Followed by a dismissal and a note jotted on a nurses hand. I rather suspect that when I phone to get the results I will have to repeat the whole thing. Angry9: cussing: evil: cussing: Of course I may be wrong and all will be well. angel1

The scan was the easy part.
Drinking all the water an hour beforehand was not good for her.
So scan, empty bladder then scan again.
Results in 5 days.
I was left in the waiting area which was filling up with young mums and their first-born and who were giving me strange looks, as though I shouldn't be there.
-
Results from scan - no stone(s).
Mrs Tel has renal cyst(s) and no I don't have a clue as to what they are.
She is seeing GP at 16:30.

Right then, Saturday night practically no sleep, same for Sunday night.
Last night, a bit better.
This is awful and I won't go into detail.
