Caught as I was by the full page ad on the back of October's The Oldie I've been taking a look at the Brennan JB7.
http://www.brennan.co.uk/
"How many CDs do you own but never play?" is the question the ad asks. Quite a few in my case if the truth be told, but am I really going to play them more if I buy one of their pieces of kit? rubschin:
The idea seems sound but what I tend to do is download the CD onto the 'puter into iTunes library and I can then play it in the background whilst working or transfer it to a playlist for use with the iPod or phone.
I don't think Mr Brennan will be hearing from me and at £359 for the basic model that's another reason to decline. Anyone else?

I could build a media centre PC for that price, or just buy a large external drive. I know you don't have the controls on an external drive, but it all depends on what kind of system you are trying to build or link into.
CD ripping speed is a bit strange - I use Fairstars (free) and it is bloody quick and that includes getting data from the web.
I hate all these over-priced unit thingies that are supposed combine everything into one box - depends on what you want to achieve and how I suppose.
(same goes for video)

Apart from the bit about controlling it from your armchair I don't see that it does anything my 'puter doesn't already do.

I have ripped all my CDs as MP3s...
I then run SlimServer (http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/speakers-audio/wireless-music-systems/devices/5745) on an old puter and have squeezeboxes (http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/speakers-audio/wireless-music-systems/devices/5745) all round the house...

You smooth monkey, you lol:
I'd agree with Mort, doesn't seem much point. Now, if there was a way towards voice recognition and I shouted "Summer" at it and it played all the tracks relating, now that might be interesting ... rubschin:

All seems a bit "OTT" to me.
